Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz.
Folks, we've got a classic case of weather whiplash on the way. A fast-moving clipper system is racing to our north, pulling up mild air on southerly winds. It feels like spring for now, but don't get used to it. A sharp cold front arrives late Saturday, flipping the script right back to deep winter.
In the next 24 hours. Step outside in Southern Vermont and you're feeling 33 degrees under sunny skies. You'll drop to about 25 degrees tonight under mostly clear skies. Saturday brings a high near 39 degrees with a few rain showers possible around mid-morning. Saturday night turns colder with lows around 17 degrees.
Head north to Central Vermont and you're sitting a bit warmer at 36 degrees. Watch for a low around 28 degrees tonight. Rain showers are likely Saturday morning, mainly between 15 degrees and 11 A.M. Highs reach the low 40s before temperatures crash in the afternoon. Expect a low around 16 degrees Saturday night.
Up in the Northeast Kingdom, you're at 35 degrees with partly sunny skies. Lows tonight dip to 23 degrees. Saturday features a high near 43 degrees with a mix of rain and snow showers before noon. Expect a low around 15 degrees Saturday night.
Here's the big picture for the week ahead. Sunday brings light snow followed by the coldest air of the season. Lows could drop to near minus 4 degrees Sunday night. Monday stays frigid with a high near 15 degrees. Temperatures slowly moderate by Tuesday as we track potential snow showers mid-week.
