In this interaction that takes place between a person and a robot, the person is a critical determining factor in how that interaction is going to work. Just like with your computer. If you have a very frustration tolerance for example, computers are going to drive you crazy because computers are always going behave in confounding ways. They’re always going to do something that you didn’t want expect or want. If I allow my low frustration tolerance to guide my interactions with my computer, it’s not going to be a good relationship with my computer. It’s going to be a terrible relationship with my computer. Software isn’t going to work. We all know people who can’t get things to work on their computer. The computer is just fine. It’s the human part of the interaction that isn’t working well. – Tom Guarriello

Tom Guarriello is the founder of Robosych, where he explores the psychology of human-robot interaction
