"It is hovering and it's not an aircraft." In 1978, young pilot Frederick Valentich gave this final transmission before vanishing over the Bass Strait. The official investigation suggested disorientation, but a recently discovered naval log places an unidentified submarine in the exact area at the exact time.
We synchronize the audio transcript with radar data and the submarine's log. Was Valentich caught in a military exercise, or did he see something that forced a clandestine vessel to surface? The sea and the sky hold their secrets tightly.
