After the birth of her first child in Oxford and pregnant with her second, Joanna was appointed as a Lecturer at the University of Adelaide where she has since built her academic career. One of Australia’s foremost legal scholars in the field of labour migration, Joanna was invited by the Prime-Minister to attend the inaugural Jobs and Skills Summit in 2022, alongside 100 other eminent Australians. She was subsequently appointed by the federal government as part of an expert panel to review the Australian migration program and she serves on advisory bodies for the federal Minister for Immigration and the International Labor Organisation.
