Have you ever had that one person in your life that you aren't just in love with - but you become obsessive over? That person that just gets under your skin? That person that you think you would do anything for? What if that person rejects you - because of your own flawed personality? Do you accept it and move on, fixing yourself so it doesn't happen again? Or do you blame another for it?We head back fairly recently, to 2020, and to the county of Worcestershire this time around on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, to hear a horrific tale of a flawed individual who really did have such a person under the skin - and the actions that resulted because of it.The episode contains details and descriptions of events, involving injury detail, that some listeners may find disturbing, and or distressing, so discretion is advised whilst listening. Violence in schools is sadly something we see all too often - perhaps more so in other countries, but it is a very real problem here in the UK. Today, Middlesborough girl Nikki Conroy would have been 41 years old - perhaps married, perhaps with a family of her own. Sadly. she never got that chance to do any of that, due to 9 minutes of mayhem, carnage, pure horror, back on a Monday morning in March 1994. I bring you Nikki's story here. Bit of a reach into the back catalogue of the show's Patreon tales comes this time around on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, for a somewhat reworked tale that brings the listener a pair of disturbing and horrific crimes, the work of the same individual - and at least one of which could, indeed, should, have been prevented. I'm thrilled to bring a long awaited return of the Listener penned episode this time around on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, the work of listener Karen Mcleod, for a puzzling story that's fairly local to her, and one that poses the question:Can someone simply vanish into thin air, on an afternoon walk? The roles of a parent are to love and guide their children, to protect them, and unquestionably - to never harm them. For the episode that drops this time around on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, we are back to the start of the 2000's, and to my home area of North Wales, for a tragic and horrifying tale that shows that sometimes, a parent disregards these simple roles - and does the unthinkable. The events you will hear within are simply that. Unthinkable. At some point in our lives, we all tell a lie or two. Mostly little ones, embellishments. This time around on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, in a bit of deja vu, we are back down in Surrey to the mid 2000's, to hear the unbelieveable tale of an individual whose whole life seemed to be carried on lies. We head back to the late 1990's, and to the town of Warrington, in Cheshire, this time around on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, for a sordid tale of sex, deceit - and brutal, pre-meditated murder. The concluding part to the opening tale of series 7 of The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast drops here, where last time, we were left with a face and the name of the individual who had struck such terror across the north and north - west of the UK, in an apalling campaign of sex attacks, that he had earned himself the title of "Britain's Most Wanted"An individual named Andrew Longmire.Dangerous enough as he was, he added another element to this by arming himself with a shotgun, and a large quantity of ammunition. And he was more than prepared to use it, too. He had to be caught, because he had to be stopped.Let's see if he was then. The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, including that of a sexual nature, that some listeners may find disturbing, and or upsetting, so discretion is advised whilst listening.Music used in this episode: "The Descent" by Kevin Macleod. A warm welcome back to the new series of The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, where we open up Series 7 with the first part of a look back at an unfamiliar, long forgotten case from the 1980's.Which is a surprising description, because the events concerned within the tale are truly horrific ones - and were to lead to the individual bestowed with the title of "Britain's Most Wanted"It's good to be back. Once again, I've sat down with a spare half an hour, and have gone back through the tales that have made up Series 6 of the show, and once again like the shit DVD Extras and commentary that no one ever really listens to, have given my own thoughts and feelings, perhaps a bit of an aside here and there also, to each case we have covered this year on the regular show in a rough as a badgers arse, totally unscripted manner - even Peaks features in it. I thank you all for your very kind support this year, my favourite series to have done to date, and i look forward to seeing you very soon in 2022. The concluding part of the Series 6 finale tale from The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast drops here, continuing from the events we heard in the first part - where we met a young woman named India Eve Chipchase - who sadly, back in 2016, never made it home from a Friday night out in Northampton. So let's meet the man - India's Good Samaritan - who stood accused of her rape and murder, for his trial - and I'm sure you won't believe the account he was to give. The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, including that of a sexual nature, that some listeners may find disturbing, and or upsetting, so discretion is advised whilst listening.Music used in this episode: "The Descent" by Kevin Macleod. On a night out, we can all enjoy ourselves - and we can all sometimes have that bit too much to drink. Usually, we have our mates there to help us out, to stick by us. But occasionally we get separated - I'm sure it has happened to most of us in our lives. So occasionally then, we may need to rely on the kindness of others - a Good Samaritan if you like. And most of the time, this is what they are.For the first part of the Series 6 finale episode of The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, we hear just how much this is, most of the time. We began a two part tale last time here on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, which looked at an armed robbery in a small post office in a rural North Yorkshire village. The second such robbery in almost a year, in what could have been a carbon copy of the first.Except this one ended in the brutal murder of the postmistress, Diana Garbutt.Or did it?The tale is courtesy of Jess Carter, host of the Outlines Podcast, and takes us back to 2011, for this part covering the trial of the person police arrested some three weeks after the robbery, a person they firmly suspected of not quite giving a truthful account of that day.Her husband, Robin Garbutt. The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, that some listeners may find disturbing, and or upsetting, so discretion is advised whilst listening.Music used in this episode: "The Descent" by Kevin Macleod. I have the pleasure of bringing you a tale that has had the Outlines treatment, courtesy of Jess Carter, as we head back to March of 2010 this time - and next time around - on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, for a strange tale that for a great deal of it, so many things about it don't add up. It's a controversial case, one that still today divides a community, one that I would imagine will make you stop and think, and perhaps even one that will cause debate. And it all begins in a rural Post Office, in a North Yorkshire village. The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, that some listeners may find disturbing, and or upsetting, so discretion is advised whilst listening.Music used in this episode: "The Descent" by Kevin Macleod. We head to the UK county of Derbyshire, and back to the early 1960's, for our tale this time around on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast. A reach into the show's Patreon back catalogue comes this time around on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast - a tale that takes us back the mid 1970's, for a tragic, horrific yet unfamiliar case that's a real prime example of when pressure, when it keeps building and building, sometimes leads people to snap - sometimes resulting in the most extreme, horrific circumstances you can imagine. The culmination of the Thriller arc of this series of The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast drops here in this final episode, where we see just what David Mulcahy's conviction meant for so many - the victims, as well as the side of law and order. We catch up with developments over the twenty plus years since the conviction, and i give my own thoughts and feedback concerning the entire arc.The multi part episodes are dedicated to the women who were blighted by the pair, and the three who lost their lives. In the penultimate episode of this series' Thriller arc, we now have David John Mulcahy stood in the dock, accused of countless horrendous crimes. The evidence against him was strong - yet nothing stronger than the words of his former best friend, John Francis Duffy, who stood just feet away from him - but this time, in the witness box, giving evidence. This then, is Taller and Shorter - but would testimony be enough? And was their unspeakable bond now really broken? How was such a bond - strong enough to rape and murder, and then remain silent for almost a decade - how was that even created?Let's see how Taller and Shorter came to be such a duo. The episode contains graphic details and descriptions of crimes and events, involving crimes of a sexual nature and depictions of violence, and also including depictions of extreme animal cruelty that some listeners may find disturbing and/or upsetting, so discretion is advised whilst listening.Music used in this episode: "The Descent" by Kevin Macleod. We are edging towards the conclusion of the Thriller multi episode arc right now - an arc that has seen multiple rapes, three horrific murders, the largest investigation of it's kind for years, groundbreaking investigative tools - and finally, we have seen Shorter - John Francis Duffy - brought to justice.Except that still leaves one loose end, doesn't it? Let's see if that loose end could be tied up then. When we left the Thriller arc last time, in their hunt for the multiple rapists and suspected single triple killer, police had just utilised the services of Professor David Canter, who helped Operation Trinity with the then groundbreaking investigative tool of the psychological profile.Sure enough, it was near enough right on the money, and when applied to the suspect pool, made one name jump right out at police: John Francis Duffy. It led to charges being brought for multiple rapes - and the murders of Alison Day, Maartje Tamboezer, and Anne Lock, with Duffy scheduled to face trial for these in January 1988.So let's see how that went. This time around on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, in a continuation of this series' Thriller arc, the horrendous campaign of rape and then murder carried out by the two individuals we have come to know for now as Taller and Shorter took another turn - for with the case of a missing Hertfordshire woman, police who were hunting them soon had the very real fear that they had struck again. She was a newly-wed, having been married for just four weeks. The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, involving crimes of a sexual nature, and describing injury detail, that some listeners may find disturbing and/or upsetting, so discretion is advised whilst listening.Music used in this episode: "The Descent" by Kevin Macleod. Continuing this series Thriller arc, the two individuals we have met so far throughout the tale had soon gravitated from the appalling catalogue of sexual assaults they had carried out in the North London area over a period of three years. At the very end of 1985, they had crossed the thin line from rapist to killer with the appalling murder of a 19 year old secretary named Alison Day.And almost five months later, they struck again, this time managing to add a new predatory dimension to their campaign. The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, involving crimes of a sexual nature, involving a child, that some listeners may find disturbing and/or upsetting, so discretion is advised whilst listening.Music used in this episode: "The Descent" by Kevin Macleod. In the opening episode of this series Thriller arc, we were introduced to two individuals who from the middle of 1982 onwards, carried out an appalling catalogue of sexual assaults in the North London area. The attacks gained in proficiency and frequency, then at least one of the men branched out and began attacking women alone - as well as in tandem with his partner. And finally, for whatever reason, sexual assault just wasn't enough - a step further was wanted, or needed. So with just two days of 1985 remaining, the line from rapist to killer was crossed by each. The first of a two part tale - there is so much to this one a single episode wouldn't do - this time around on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, as we are off back more than 50 years, to meet two determined criminals. Not too successful at their chosen profession, due to the amount of times each was caught and imprisoned, each had a determination that prison wasn't to be for them, and resolved to never spend a day longer inside than they had to.Without waiting for that all important release date.
