At the young age of 18, Alise Kirk immigrated from Romania to the United States with her parents. Although it was her dream, and even though she was fluent in English, it was still a difficult transition coming to a new culture and country. She felt isolated and at times depressed, but she said all of this made her resilient. While her struggle was real, she knew and could sense the freedom and opportunity in the United States was something she never experienced in Romania. Alise knew she came to the most amazing country in the world. Alise shares in this episode: How she discovered that she enjoyed politics.
