Our special guest for show #046 of Torque and Chatter is the freshly crowned Finke ‘King of the Desert’, Toby Price OAM. Toby recently became the first person to win Finke in a car and on a bike. He has won the bike category 6 x previously. Throw in 2 x Dakar Winner, 5 x Australian Off- Road Champion, 5 x Hattah Desert Race Champion, 1 x FIM Cross-Country Rally World Champion and OAM recipient, you end up with quite an amazing list of achievements. For this young boy who grew up in Roto, he sat on his very first bike at the age of 2 and started winning races at the age of 4. It’s phenomenal what Toby has accomplished and overcome during his journey. From standing on the top step of a podium, to grieving the loss of his fellow competitors / friends. Toby is one of the most down to earth humble individuals you could ever wish to meet. He is a true reflection of his parents John and Pauline Price. It is an honour to have Toby come on the show. Once he had completed his speedway apprenticeship in the USA, Greg set sail for the UK. Here he pursued a career in the sport and remained active from 1989 right up until 2020 when he retired. A stellar career spanning over 30 years, Greg has become one of the most decorated athlete's in the sports history. In this show we discuss with Valerie about being the first woman in the seat of the Target 550 Streamline. Darcy was born with motorsport in his blood, his early years spent traveling around Australia successfully competing in Dirt Track and Speedway. In 2009 Darcy catapulted onto the international speedway scene by winning the 2009 & 2010 World Under 21 Speedway Championships. In 2015 Darcy obtained spinal injuries from a racing accident in Poland cutting short his professional racing career.
