BREAKING NEWS: State Budget Passes In JFC (Hour 1)

Between state politics, national politics, and sports, the headlines are flying by at a dizzying rate. As we begin to unpack today’s news, Civic Media Sports Reporter Mike Clemens calls in to explain exactly what’s going down in the NBA draft. The Milwaukee Bucks have made some unexpected moves in efforts to assemble a younger team around superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. 

After breaking down the sports news, Todd moves on to state budget news. While nothing is set in stone, Governor Evers has announced a potential budget deal that includes compromises on funding childcare and higher education while still prioritizing GOP tax cut initiatives. State Senator Kelda Roys joins us once again to share her thoughts on this deal and how she would like to improve it.

During our show, the Joint Finance Committee took up a vote on this budget proposal, passing it with a 13-3 vote. State Senator LaTonya Johnson is among the Democrats voting yes, while State Senator Kelda Roys voted no.
