Good afternoon. Texas. I'm Jack O'Malley.
Folks, we're running 57 degrees above normal right now. That persistent southeast flow off the Gulf is pumping warm, sticky air across the entire state. Think of it as a conveyor belt of moisture that just won't quit.
In the next 24 hours. Down along the Gulf Coast, you're sitting at 81 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Southeast gusts hitting 20 miles an hour. A brief rain chance around 3 P.M., but most of you stay dry. Tonight eases to 68.
Slide west into South Texas and the heat cranks up. Laredo and Cotulla are flirting with 90 to 92 degrees. That humidity pushes the heat index near 89. Your skin knows the difference even if the thermometer doesn't. Overnight holds at 69.
Central Texas lands around 84 to 86 degrees. Now pay attention here. A weak disturbance overhead could fire isolated thunderstorms between noon and 6 P.M. Any storm that pops will dump rain in a hurry. Lows tonight settle near 66 to 68.
Up in North Texas. Dallas Fort Worth pushes to 82 under mostly sunny skies. South winds gusting to 25 miles an hour. Clouds thicken tonight as a cold front creeps closer. Low around 67.
Wednesday that front stalls across North Texas, triggering scattered storms by late afternoon. A few could turn severe with large hail and damaging winds. Central and South Texas see only isolated showers.
Looking ahead. The first half of the week stays warm and unsettled. Then a stronger system rolls in Friday through the weekend. We're talking 1 to 3 inches of rain, flooding concerns. And a serious severe weather threat. All modes possible. Large hail, damaging winds, isolated tornadoes.
In Sunrise was 6, 56 A.M. Today. Sunset at 6:32 P.M. We're gaining two minutes of daylight daily.
