Show Notes

Good evening. Texas. I'm Aaron Jolly. Happy Texas Independence Day, y'all. And the state is celebrating by cranking the thermostat to levels that have no business showing up in early March. In the next 24 hours. So what's going on? A southeast flow is pumping Gulf moisture straight into the state like somebody left the oven door open. That's why South Texas hit 90 degrees today. 57 degrees above normal. Overnight lows barely dipped to 72. Your AC is already earning its paycheck. But there's a plot twist coming. A cold front is sliding south out of Oklahoma right now. It stalls across North Texas by tomorrow evening. And that's where things get interesting. Down in South Texas, you felt the full force today. Ninety degrees with southeast gusts hitting 30 miles an hour. That sticky, heavy air isn't going anywhere tonight. Along the Gulf Coast, 82 degrees with showers possible by midweek. Slide up to Central Texas and you topped out at 84. Thunderstorms develop there after noon Wednesday. Now push north toward Dallas Fort Worth. You saw 78 degrees today, but that stalled front puts you in the crosshairs. Storm chances peak between 4 P.M. and midnight Wednesday. Some of those storms could pack hail and gusty winds. Worth keeping an eye on. Quick piece of history. On this date in 2012, fifteen tornadoes touched down across North Texas. Severe weather season is twelve days out. Consider this your early wake up call. Looking ahead, this warm and humid pattern locks in through the week. Rain chances climb sharply by Friday and stick around through the weekend. Some spots could pick up one to three inches. Spring is practically elbowing its way through the door. Tonight, expect upper 60s under cloudy skies with a full moon rising. Sunrise tomorrow at 6:56 A.M. Sunset at 6:32 P.M. Charge those phones tonight. If storms roll through Wednesday, you'll want the battery full. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
