Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Texas Weather Podcast for Monday, February 23rd. Folks, soak in that 47 degree crispness right now.. Because by Wednesday, parts of this state will be flirting with 92 degrees. That's not a typo. Late February. And we're talking shorts weather. Let me walk you through it. Up in Dallas and Fort Worth, you're grinding through a 59 degree afternoon. Winds shift north around 3 P.M., gusting to 15 miles an hour. That makes 7 A.M. Feel like 34 degrees. Grab the jacket if you're out early. Slide south to Austin and you're already at 65 degrees. Light winds flip from east to south southwest around 3 A.M. Tonight. That's the warm air knocking on the door. Down in Laredo? Door's wide open. They hit 70 degrees by 4 P.M. With easy east breezes. The Gulf Coast is the cool kid today, topping out at 62 degrees. Tonight, most of the state settles into the 40s. North Texas dips to 39 degrees. Then Tuesday, everything accelerates. Gulf Coast jumps to 71. Central Texas hits 75. South Texas pushes 79. And Wednesday is the headliner. South Texas could touch 92 degrees. That's 39 degrees above normal for February. Even North Texas climbs to 82. Now here's something serious. A Red Flag Warning is active for Southeast Texas today. Low humidity plus gusty winds equals dangerous fire conditions. Fire Weather Watches extend into Tuesday across the Panhandle and West Texas, with gusts to 35 miles an hour and humidity dropping to 7 percent. Skip the outdoor burning. Period. Looking ahead, this warmth isn't going anywhere. A weak cold front nudges through late Thursday, but it barely dents the heat. By Saturday, South and Central Texas are right back in the 80s. UV index is already at 6 today. Slather on sunscreen even though the calendar says February. I'll be tracking those fire conditions all week. You'll want to keep checking back. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
