A High Wind Warning is in effect for the Panhandle starting Sunday morning. Northwest winds could gust as high as 65 miles an hour, while across Central Texas, temperatures will reach the mid-90s Sunday afternoon. Then a powerful cold front crashes through.
North Texas sees the front first, arriving near the Red River around mid-morning. Here comes a 50-degree temperature crash in about 15 hours.
Moving on. The front sweeps south overnight. Strong northerly winds take over statewide, with gusts over 40 miles an hour. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for much of the state on Monday. Humidity levels will drop into the teens, any spark will ignite quickly.
The cold air lingers Monday, highs statewide will only reach the 50s. North Texas could even see a freeze Monday night, while but we warm up quickly by midweek. Highs return to the 80s by Wednesday.
By next weekend, summer returns early. Here comes highs in the low 90s statewide under sunny skies.
As the sun sets. Charge your phone and secure the patio furniture tonight, you'll need both ready for the winds tomorrow. We'll be back with your next forecast evening.
See you tomorrow.
