Parts of the state are getting a taste of spring while others are still locked in winter's grip. Let's break it down. Step outside in Dallas-Fort Worth and you're feeling mid-50s with overcast skies. Not bad, not great. Kind of that gray, in-between day where you grab a jacket but don't zip it. Down in Houston, you've got upper 60s with some humidity creeping back in. If you're heading out tonight along the Gulf Coast, a light layer is all you need. Now San Antonio and Austin are sitting pretty in the low 60s. **Perfect weather for hitting the trails** at Enchanted Rock or grabbing dinner on South Congress. You'll want to enjoy it, because changes are coming. Up in the Panhandle? **Completely different story.** Amarillo's barely cracking 40 with gusty winds making it feel closer to the low 30s. That's the kind of cold that bites. And wind chills are **brutal** if you're out on the ranch. Dress warmly if you're heading anywhere north of Lubbock tonight. Out west, El Paso's seeing sunshine and mid-50s. Dry as a bone, which is pretty much El Paso's default setting. Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. A cold front is **bearing down** on us Wednesday night into Thursday. We're talking a potential **48 degrees-degree temperature crash** across North Texas by Thursday morning. DFW could wake up to freezing temps by Friday. The front pushes all the way to the coast by the weekend, so Houston, your little spring preview is about to get interrupted. No significant rain in the forecast for most of the state, which means our drought concerns aren't going anywhere. If you're in agriculture, you already know the story there.
