In this Wednesday episode, which was recorded late Tuesday night, Alex Kozora and I dive into the possibility of the Pittsburgh Steelers being the team to land San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk in the extremely near future. This show is predominantly all about Aiyuk. We go through the timeline of reports concerning Aiyuk and the teams reportedly interested in trading for that essentially heated back up on Tuesday and flowed into Wednesday afternoon and evening. We discuss all aspects of what a trade of Aiyuk to either the Steelers, Cleveland Browns or New England Patriots might look like. We also discuss Aiyuk's leverage and if the 49ers have any chance of keeping him in San Francisco. We talk about possible the players the Steelers might be asked to include as compensation for Aiyuk as well. As part of us winding this show down, Alex and I rate our optimism when it comes to the Steelers potentially being the team to land Aiyuk. August 5, 2024 - Season 15, Episode 6 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday episode, Alex Kozora and I start by discussing the overall health of the Pittsburgh Steelers on their second off day of their 2024 training camp. On the heels of six consecutive training camp practices being conducted, Alex and I discuss the Steelers' starting quarterback battle at this point of the summer and if there really is one at all. We talk about QB Russell Wilson not yet practicing fully, the nice stretch of six practices that QB Justin Fields put together and what HC Mike Tomlin recently told Kay Adams on her show about the supposed competition the team has or is having at the key position. Should Wilson indeed wind up being the team's starter for Week 1, which is something Alex and I both think will ultimately happen, will Tomlin be hesitant to make an early season change if things aren’t going great at the quarterback position? We attempt to answer that question and also address concerns related to any potential fallout there might be to the Steelers getting Fields on the field in limited situations should he indeed wind up starting the regular season as the backup to Wilson. After discussing the situation the Steelers might face in 2024 with ILB Cole Holcomb quite thoroughly during our Friday podcast episode, news has since surfaced that the team has renegotiated his contract to add split salary language and guarantees. Alex and I discuss exactly what has transpired with Holcomb’s contract and what that likely means for him heading into the start of the 2024 regular season. Alex and I then discuss a few things related to training camp practices this past week and we spend a lot of time talking about running backs and the offensive line. We discuss how RB Najee Harris has handled training camp so far and whether RB Jaylen Warren will get more goal-line work in 2024. The Pittsburgh Steelers signed veteran OLB Markus Golden on Thursday and with him being a familiar face, we discuss what his addition means to the team and if he should be considered a lock to make the 53-man roster moving forward. We also discuss the trickle-down effect of Golden's signing as it relates to other players at both the outside and inside linebacker positions potentially making the 53-man roster. With the immediate outlook for ILB Cole Holcomb not being great based on a recent media report, Alex and I examine the possibility of the veteran being cut this summer. We also discuss Reserve/PUP being an option for Holcomb and what role he would presumably have should he ultimately be on the Steelers' 53-man roster. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin finally held his first training camp press conference of 2024 late Wednesday evening and Alex and I go over all of the key talking points to come out of it. Even though his press conference was shy of 15 minutes in length, we were able to spend almost 30 minutes discussing everything that he talked about. Steelers RB Najee Harris talked to the media on Wednesday after arriving at training camp and as expected, he talked about his fifth-year option not being picked up earlier in the offseason. We discuss all that Harris had to say on Wednesday and discuss his situation moving forward into the 2024 regular season. New Steelers QB Russell Wilson held his first training camp practice media session of 2024, and he gave us a few things to discuss in this show as well. In this Tuesday episode, Alex Kozora and I start by discussing what our podcasting schedule will look like moving forward into the start of training camp getting underway for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers had a few players in for tryouts to start of this week, so we talk briefly about those two players. In this Friday episode, Alex Kozora and I start by discussing Rob King being named the new play-by-play voice of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday. On the heels of the Steelers signing ILB Tyler Matakevich to a one-year contract on Wednesday, Alex and I break down every aspect of that move. For starters, we discuss what Matakevich brings back to the Steelers after his three seasons with the Buffalo Bills. We also discuss if Matakevich's signing is somewhat related to Steelers ILB Cole Holcomb possibly starting training camp off on the Active/PUP list. We also talk about the possible impact of Matakevich's signing on third-year ILB Mark Robinson. We talk about if Matakevich is a lock to make the 53-man roster this year, his contract numbers, and the rest of the inside linebacker as it sits now. With Holcomb being discussed some during this show, Alex and I go over the PUP rules and how by this time next week we will know if he will be on the list. San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk is back in the news this week as a result of him asking to be traded on Tuesday. We go over what that request means, who has the most leverage in his situation and if anything has changed regarding the Steelers potentially landing Aiyuk via a trade in the next several weeks. The Steelers will have at least two new coaches at training camp courtesy of the NFL's Bill Walsh Fellowship Program, so we go over the two names we know at this point. July 16, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 154 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Tuesday episode, site contributors Joe Clark and Ross McCorkle join me with Alex Kozora having the day off. I start the show by reintroducing Joe and Ross to the show, so listeners can learn more about them and their new podcast, “The Depot Dive.” After some fun at the top of the show, the three of us discuss the Monday news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers hosting the Buffalo Bills for a joint training camp practice at Acrisure Stadium in the middle of August and just a few days before the two teams play each other in a preseason game. A new study on the NFL's new kickoff rule that is based on the XFL's usage of it hit the internet on Monday, so the three of us discuss the stats and findings to come out of that post. We move on to talk about the main concerns that Joe and Ross have about the 2024 Steelers on both sides of the football ahead of training camp getting underway in a few more weeks. Also in this show, I ask Joe and Ross to both name a dark horse roster player for the Steelers on both sides of the football. Essentially, one player on offense and defense that many probably don't have making the 53-man roster that just might after the dusts finally settles.
