East Tennessee sees the slowest exit — rain showers stick around through early afternoon before finally clearing out. Middle and West Tennessee? You're already seeing breaks in the clouds. By midday, sunshine wins statewide. Highs climb to the upper 60s and low 70s. Comfortable, but not quite as toasty as yesterday's near-record heat. Tonight stays quiet. Partly cloudy skies, lows dropping to the low 50s. Light winds. Monday brings sunshine and a serious warm-up. Highs surge into the mid to upper 70s — some spots could challenge 80 degrees. That warmth sets the stage for what's coming next. Monday night into Tuesday, scattered showers and thunderstorms return. A few storms could be strong, with large hail the main concern. Tuesday afternoon dries out briefly, with highs near 80. Wednesday is the day to watch. A powerful system dives out of the Southwest and collides with our warm, humid air. Showers and thunderstorms fire up. And some could turn severe. Damaging winds are the primary threat, with a low tornado risk. Heavy rain is likely too.
