S1 Ep 262Peeling Back the Layers with Isabela Bagueros of the Tor Project
Josh and Tatiana are spending this episode of The Tatiana Show focused on privacy and they welcome Isabela Bagueros, Executive Director of the Tor Project to explain why privacy on the internet is important. Isabela recounts how she first came to use the Tor browser and then began working for the Tor Project, eventually becoming its Executive Director. She also, very simply, likens the layers of encryption applied when connected to Tor to the layers of an onion… hence, the Onion Router. Previously, Tor users were able to use the browser to visit the web anonymously. The latest Tor project, the open-source OnionShare, now allows users to offer and exchange content with the same encrypted protection. Isabela also addresses the term "dark web," and explains that there is no such thing…at least, not as it exists in the imagination of people who are not familiar with how internet infrastructure works. What most people think of is the "dark web" is really just the "unindexed web." What Tor offers is not a doorway to some secret part of the internet, but privacy, security, and a way to circumvent censorship across the entire public internet and the network of unindexed sites and Onion servers. This is a must-hear episode for a concise explanation of how Tor works, why you need it, and how far it has come in providing security and privacy and where it goes from here.Remember: there is no dark web. There is only Tor. About the Guest:Isabela Bagueros is the Executive Director of the Tor Project since November 2018. She joined the Tor Project as Project Manager in 2015, after working as Product Manager for International and Growth at Twitter for four years. Isabela has been part of the free software community since the late 90s, and in 2007 she co-founded and worked as Latin America Project Manager for North by South, a startup from San Francisco focused on free software projects. Isabela was also part of Brazil's Federal Government Free Software initiative, working in 2005 on the Ministry of Communications digital inclusion project and participating in 2006 on a project to migrate the IT of the Presidential Palace of Brazil to free software. If you like this content, please send a tip with BTC to 1Q2QHoNowg8D2QzWhBQU1YrraG771aCpgS More Info: Tor Project OnionShare New Tor Browser Release Tatiana MorozVaultoroFriends and Sponsors of the Show:Proof of Love Crypto Media Hub *You have been listening to the Tatiana Show. S1 Ep 261BlockSpaces with Rosa Shores and Chris Tyler
BlockSpaces co-founder Rosa Shores and CTO Chris Tyler join Josh and Tatiana to share the evolution of BlockSpaces from a community participating in local meetups in the Tampa area to a powerhouse of enterprise development in the blockchain space. Rosa's first exposure to cryptocurrency was through the lens of libertarian economic ideology, but her corporate background led her to consider how tokens could be used for making ecommerce payment more efficient and transparent track and tracing to highlight product sourcing for brands. BlockSpaces moved to solve some B2B enterprise issues with their development services. Josh and Tatiana ask, and Chris and Rosa answer, the questions: How does BlockSpaces define "enterprise" applications? Why blockchain and not just existing database technology? How do you insure the integrity of data at the original input?Which issues along supply chains can blockchain solve?Where do ideas such as Digital / Decentralized ID fit into enterprise solutions?Does cryptocurrency have a place in enterprise solutions?Which blockchain protocols does BlockSpaces work with?Tatiana asks Rosa about another project that inspired the formation of BlockSpaces: Clearvoter. Clearvoter is a civic engagement platform, proposed in 2014, born of the founders' desire to employ the blockchain and cryptocurrency in a way that would provide transparency to potential voters around local policy issues, while solving some of the issues (*cough* social media *cough*) that caused division and diffusion in politics that lead to tribalism and hyper-partisanship. If you thought you knew everything that blockchain could be used for, you definitely want to hear what Rosa, Chris, and the BlockSpaces team have in store for the enterprise world. About the Guests:Rosa Shores is co-founder of BlockSpaces, a blockchain-focused product development company located in Tampa, Florida. As a seven year veteran of the blockchain industry. She is also the co-founder of ClearVoter, an early stage digital democracy/civic engagement platform. As a former eCommerce digital analyst with Qurate Retail Group (HSN/QVC), she first heard of bitcoin and cryptocurrency in 2013 and is recognized in the blockchain community as a passionate speaker and advocate for blockchain technology. She is the co-organizer of several of the largest and longest running blockchain/cryptocurrency groups in the Tampa Bay region since 2014, and is the Vice President of the Florida Blockchain Business Association, a group dedicated to helping blockchain focused businesses thrive in the state through industry focused legislative efforts and education. The FBBA was instrumental in supporting the passing of Florida SB 1024 which established the Florida Blockchain Task Force within the Florida Department of Financial Services, and also helped develop what is now SB 1870 which proposes a fintech regulatory sandbox for Florida allowing innovative companies to build outside of regulatory restrictions with oversight. Chris Tyler is an experienced IT professional with over 25 years experience in the software industry. Over the past 15 years with IBM, he has been a trusted advisor to many software companies on the monetization of data through the use of analytics, data science, IoT and blockchain. Recently, Chris has taken on the role of Chief Technology Officer for BlockSpaces. Prepperpalooza guest and military veteran Kristen Meghan returns to the Tatiana Show to talk with Josh and Tatiana about the COVID-19 crisis, particularly in Michigan, in the context of her military and health freedom activism experience. We're doing it all wrong, according to Kristen. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has extended the coronavirus quarantine orders in her state beyond what many other areas of the country have instituted, and is experiencing pushback from many parts of the state. As a leading contender for the VP slot on the Biden ticket, Whitmer is taking full advantage of of the current crisis to keep herself in the national spotlight. S1 Ep 257BitGive Founder Connie Gallippi: Giving with Crypto
The COVID-19 coronavirus has had an unprecedented global impact on health and economy and it has been heartening to see so many efforts to offer relief appear through out the world. BitGive founder Connie Gallippi joins Tatiana and Josh from Tahoe, where the coronavirus has impacted a disproportionate number of residents, to share the ongoing COVID-19 relief efforts happening through BitGive's donation platform, GiveTrack and shares her experience in helping to rally the crypto community and beyond during this crises. BitGive, the first bitcoin and blockchain non-profit, has applied it's RSK blockchain solution, GiveTrack, to transparently record donations from around the world to benefit Direct Relief, GiveDirectly, and One Fair Wage Emergency Fund with an initial fundraising goal of $20,000. RSK Labs got them off to a great start with a $10,000 donation. With their integration partnership with Uphold, supporters can now donate using bitcoin, fiat, or any of the more than 30 cryptocurrencies supported by Uphold. GiveTrack's blockchain fueled transparency introduces a timely use case for blockchain and cryptocurrency by allowing supporters to watch their donation move from their wallet to the intended charity and then to see how the charity spends their donations, all one one platform. BitGive has also set up several funds to help expand their reach. Supporters can donate to Growth Fund, the Innovators Fund, or the Leadership Circle to empower BitGive's mission. As Josh mentions, crypto evangelists should be enthusiastically supporting efforts like BitGive. Have a good month and a little extra to spare? Supporting charity efforts though BitGive and GiveTrack are a great way to walk to the walk of getting government out of charity. Before the close of the episode, Josh shared some great feel-good news: people in Ireland are repaying the Hopi and Navaho Nation tribes in the United States for a favor done for Ireland in 1847. Connie wasn't the only one who got chills hearing about this beautiful effort. Please make sure to follow Connie and BitGive on social media and share the love! S1 Ep 240Scott Horton of the Libertarian Institute & AntiWar.com Shares More
EAmidst the controversy surrounding U.S. and Iran tensions, I invited back to #TheTatianaShow foreign policy expert and king of anti-war news Scott Horton to discuss the current state of affairs. In his usual style, Scott eviscerates the narrative peddled by the mainstream media and Washington's warmongers. As most Americans believe history started on 9-11, Scott debunks the tired tropes and myths surrounding the terror war and gives us some real background into the Middle East and American relations such as: How Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan kicked off the interventions during the Soviet-Afghan war in the 1980's and the arming and funding of Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda. Why Bill Clinton's brutal sanctions of Iraq and stationing troops in Arabia were the direct reasons Bin Laden gave for his attack on the towers on 9-11. How George W. Bush's disastrous war in Iraq helped lead to the rise of the Islamic state, Barack Obama's funding and arming of Al Qaeda in Syria and Libya in an attempt to contain Iranian influence, and how Donald Trump continues backing the radical Sunni jihadists in the Saudi war against Yemen. Scott also gives his keen insight into the current issues of the day as only he can and answers the questions: What was the real reason behind Soleimani being in Iraq and was he there on a peace mission with the Saudis? Does Trump truly want war with Iran or is he doing the bidding of the neoconservatives? Why are young people so easily propagandized into going to war and what can the right wing of America do to hold Trump to his promise to bring the troops home? About the Guests: Scott Horton is the author of Fool's Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan, FoolsErrand.us, managing director of the Libertarian Institute at LibertarianInstitute.org, editorial director of Antiwar.com, host of Antiwar Radio on Pacifica, 90.7 FM KPFK in Los Angeles and KUCR 88.3 in Riverside, California and podcasts the Scott Horton Show from this website. In 2007, Horton won the Austin Chronicle's "Best of Austin" award for his Iraq war coverage on Antiwar Radio. He's conducted more than 5,000 interviews since 2003. His articles have appeared at Antiwar.com The American Conservative, the History News Network, The Future of Freedom, The National Interest and the Christian Science Monitor, and he contributed a chapter to the 2019 book, The Impact of War. He is a fan of, but no relation to the lawyer from Harper's. Scott lives in Austin, Texas with his wife, investigative reporter Larisa Alexandrovna Horton. S1 Ep 2372019 Year-End Wrap Up
EOn a special holiday episode of #TheTatianaShow, Tatiana and Josh look back on 2019 and also forward to the new year. There are some exciting opportunities for 2020! What To Listen For: Tatiana gives some details into the upcoming events in the Bahamas she's planning called Crypto-Cares. What started out as a casual idea has become a week long event in January 2020 with a live acoustic album taping and a larger conference in the spring. The two recap their recent trip to Uruguay for the 7th Annual Latin American Bitcoin Conference and what makes LABitConf one of their most favorite events to attend. Tatiana gives her New Year's resolutions to make more time for music and continue improving and working on her blockchain platform for artist, Token.Fm as a decentralized avenue for artists to connect directly with their fans for a sustainable career. The pair offer their critique of the current musical industry, what attracts artists to support socialism, and how platforms like Token.Fm could convert them to lovers of the free market. Given the recent release of the Afghan papers, Josh and Tatiana ask what happened to the anti-war songs that were prevalent in the Vietnam conflict, why certain types of dissent are approved and real dissent is not, plus the controversial de-platforming and censoring of artists and how blockchain could be the solution. Josh also opens up about his sister Leah, who has worked with people suffering from mental illness and Down's syndrome before being diagnosed with a brain tumor. They describe her as an awesome person and give some info for her GoFundMe to assist her family with their medical bills. Going forward into 2020, Tatiana and Josh remind everyone to keep educating people about blockchain, crypto, and to win hearts and minds by reminding people they are free. S1 Ep 236Rob Viglione of Horizen Returns
On this episode of The Tatiana Show, our friend from the crypto space Rob Viglione stops by. Rob is the co-founder of the Horizen project formerly known as Zencash. Launched in May 2017, Horizen is a cutting-edge technology platform that allows real life use beyond its Zen cryptocurrency. It includes the ability to implement sidechains and integrate third party technologies by using a hub and spoke type architecture. Rob shares with Josh and Tatiana the recent breakthroughs in sidechain technology at the company and provides the major benefits they will bring such as: Scalability- The sidechain will be completely independent from the main chain, so the core client doesn't require any modifications. Safety- Any possible security issues will be bound inside the sidechain and are limited only to the sidechain balance in the main chain. Decentralization- Sidechains can be run without the need of a central authority or trusted parties to validate the cross chain transfers. SDK(Software Development Kits)- Horizen's sidechains allow for unlimited software languages and the ability to customize the logic or data with no limitations. Rob responds to critics of crypto and blockchain who accuse the technology of being used only for drug dealers, pornographers, and money launderers. We ponder if it's possible to have good regulation and whether we'd like to see blockchain go mainstream. We also discuss how decentralization is the key for blockchain and crypto to avoid the pitfalls of the current fiat system. About the Guests: Rob is the Team Lead and Co-founder of Horizen, a blockchain platform that aims to enable an application-rich and inclusive ecosystem through its leading-edge sidechain solutions. Formally a trained physicist, mathematician, and military officer, Rob's experience working on satellite radar, space launch vehicles, and combat support intelligence informed much of his understanding of how blockchain technology could change the trajectory of global societies. Rob holds his Bachelor of Physics and Actuarial Mathematics, an MBA in Finance & Marketing, and is a PhD candidate in finance at the University of South Carolina where he researches cryptocurrency and teaches a class on blockchain in finance. S1 Ep 232On Location • The BitBrum Sessions: Marcos Rodriguez of Bluewallet, Tom & Will of MyHardwareWallet.co.uk, Crypto Artists Eppo & Anita Leemburg
On a very special episode of The Tatiana Show, Tatiana brings you a 3 part interview series from her recent trip to Birmingham, England for the 2019 BitBrum Conference. Josh returns to the show as he and Tatiana speak with Marcos Rodriguez from BlueWallet. BlueWallet is a free and open source project ran and bootstrapped by volunteers and Bitcoin users. Forged from the ashes of the 2017 bull run when wallets were not prepared to handle the high fees, BlueWallet was created to focus on Bitcoin and its users providing an alternative to the corporate focused wallets. Marcos discusses where he sees the company heading in the future and the challenges and opportunities of monetizing a wallet. Next up, Tatiana sits down with Tom and Will from www.myhardwarewallet.co.uk. They are the biggest resellers of the best hardware wallets in the U.K. The duo give some insight into what attracted them to Bitcoin and the trends they have noticed in the wallet market. The final interview comes from Holland crypto artists Eppo and Anita Leemburg. The couple have worked in many artforms including epoxy, acrylic jewelry, painting, and woodworking. Discovering Bitcoin led to them creating crypto art and offering pieces for sale at Bitbrum. Eppo and Anita discuss the creative community in Holland and their attitude towards Bitcoin as well as the future they see for cryptocurrency. About the Guests: Marcos Rodriguez hails from Puerto Rico, and is currently based out of Atlanta. He started working at BlueWallet after seeing all the wallets in the space drifting towards ICOs and altcoins. The lack of a dedicated bitcoin option was pretty disappointing. After a quick online search he stumbled upon BlueWallet. After sending them an email and contributing some code, he officially joined the team. Bluewallet is a free and open source project ran and bootstrapped by volunteers, and Bitcoin users. It was forged in the ashes of the 2017 bull run, where wallets where not prepared to handle the high fees scenario, giving benefit to the miners instead of the users. At the same time most wallets were doing ICOs and promoting anti-bitcoin forks. Bluewallet was then created to focus on bitcoin and its users. Providing an alternative to the corporate focused wallets we see today. https://bluewallet.io/features.html Tom and Will are the proprietors of https://myhardwarewallet.co.uk/. They are UK-based hardware wallet specialists here to ensure no crypto-enthusiasts in the UK go without the best cryptocurrency hardware wallet security solutions available. Eppo and Anita Leemburg are crypto artists from Holland. They pursued many avenues in the art world including jewelry, painting, and woodworking before discovering Bitcoin. Now they have added crypto art to their portfolio of work and their art can be seen on their websites as well as conferences like BitBrum. S1 Ep 217Michael Boldin of The Tenth Amendment Center
It's always a fun time when Michael Boldin is involved! He joined us for an informative and spirited discussion on the 10th Amendment and decentralization as a solution to the problems plaguing the country. We examine a range of issues from marijuana legislation to immigration to surveillance to gun control. We also explore how cryptocurrency can be a valuable aid in the fight to break free from the federal government. Thank you to our sponsors, Vaultoro and Salt Lending for making this episode possible. About the Guests: Michael is the founder and executive director of the Tenth Amendment Center. He was raised in Milwaukee, WI, and has lived in Los Angeles, CA since 1995. According to the SPLC's profile page on him, Michael "is an ideologue who has spent years promoting the idea that states can "nullify" federal legislation they don't like — the very same argument pushed by defenders of slavery and segregation." S1 Ep 216Tank Man: A Film by Robert Anthony Peters
This week on The Tatiana Show, we host Robert Anthony Peters, writer and director of the new award-winning short-film "Tank Man". This drama creates a brief back-story for the unidentified young man who blocked the paths of a column of Communist Chinese military tanks in Tiananmen Square, 1989. On this episode, Robert speaks of the massive protests that fueled the timeless image that we know as "Tank Man," a symbol of standing up for what is right, regardless of the circumstances. Robert clues us in on the massacre that the protests created (of which 30% of the entire Beijing population marched in the streets, and were open fired on by troops) as well as his own time spent in the city of Hong Kong. We learn of the censorship that exists today, in which the Chinese government prohibits all media and verbal communication of the events that transpired in Tiananmen Square. "Tank Man" is nothing shy of a brilliant capture of the oppressed people of China and how they marched for the freedom of the next generation. We are happy to have Robert enlighten us on the secret mass murder of millions that has been committed by the Chinese government in the last century, as well as the corrupt practices currently going on overseas in China, or what some call "The Sleeping Giant." We also made sure to cover the work he has done with the Fully Informed Jury Association Thank you to our sponsors, Vaultoro and Haven App for making this episode possible. About the Guests: Robert Anthony Peters completed his BS at the University of Arizona in Marketing and Entrepreneurship, was a Charles G. Koch Summer Fellow in DC, and trained at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in NYC. A member of SAG-AFTRA, he has been acting, producing, directing, and writing professionally in theater, film, voiceover, and more for over a decade. His most recognizable film acting roles are in The Pursuit of Happiness and Steve Jobs. He writes and lectures internationally on the relationships between art, law, philosophy, and economics. He records audiobooks, is a policy advisor for the Heartland Institute, is an inaugural member of the FEE Alumni Board, and is vice chair of the board of the Fully Informed Jury Association. He also manages his family's retail shipping store in Tucson, AZ. His film writing, directing, and producing debut, the award-winning "Tank Man," is currently being screened at festivals and events around the world.
