Since finishing her swimming career at Princeton, Elaina Gu has embraced fitness on dry land. After living abroad in Africa and exploring different types of weight lifting, Gu decided to compete in bodybuilding. She started an Instagram to showcase her progress, which caught the attention of a WWE scout, who encouraged Elaina to participate in their last tryout of 2023.
