Veteran Leadership Program’s Dennis Miller — Service and Story: Upholding the 6888 Legacy

Veteran Leadership Program Scholar, Dennis Miller, Founder and President of the Greater Philadelphia Area Veteran Chamber of Commerce joined host Andrew Kaufmann and D'Juan Wilcher, Deputy Director Veterans and Military Families at the Bush Institute to discuss his grandmother, Sylvia Armstrong's legacy. Sylvia was a member of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the only majority African American Women’s Corp unit from World War II. She faced racism and misogyny throughout her military career, yet continued to serve her country. In 2022, the 6888 received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honor bestowed by U.S. Congress.
