Anna Akana Unboxing | How To Process Grief & Loss, Being Creative & Learning To Forgive

Anna is a TRUE multi-hyphenate; she is an actor, director, writer, producer, comedian, musician, content creator, YouTuber, author and more. In 2017, Anna was named by The Hollywood Reporter as one of the 15 “New Digital Disruptors: 15 Rising Crossover Stars.” Since then, Anna executive produced and starred in the YouTube Red mini-series “Youth & Consequences,” released her debut album Casualty, was featured in Netflix’s “Let It Snow,” ABC’s “A Million Little Things” and Comedy Central’s “Corporate.” Anna also recently starred in “Go Back to China” which premiered at SXSW in 2019 before being released in March of 2020. This Friday, Anna can be seen in the highly anticipated series, “Jupiter’s Legacy” for Netflix, based on the Mark Millar graphic novel.

Anna has over 2.8 million very engaged subscribers on her own YouTube channel, which has generated more than 360 million views. She has always used her platform to shed light whether very seriously and/or with a comedic tone, on so many key topics/issues. Those include the importance of mental health, the unfortunately very timely issues of racial discrimination for AAPI people and POC, issues surrounding bullying, gender equality, sexuality and the absolute necessity to have non-white female voices to contribute to the dialogue. She is always using her voice to spotlight these issues through a variety of mediums!
