Welcome to The Starting Zone Podcast, The World of Warcraft Podcast for New and Experienced Players! On this episode Spencer Downey and Jason Lucas asked their Patrons "What's the craziest Torghast power or power combo you've done?" on the December 2020 Patron Q&A! Episode #429: December Patron Q&A! is ready for Download! What's New this Week in World of Warcraft! 2 good runs as a Protection Warrior - 1 was the all Haste run, between getting the 9% more Haste 3 times, I also got a proc'cing Haste power and have a trinket that drops a Haste pool. I kept my character sheet open to watch, and managed to proc 100% Haste on a couple trash packs, just obiliterating them. 2nd run was a combination of reversing the pools in Mor'tegast so they Heal instead of Damage combined with stacking the Whirlwind/Thunderclap have a chance to pull in the 3 closest enemies as well as getting both to do much more damage AND heal for 80% of the damage they did. I couldn't die and the mobs couldn't get away. It was amazing. My craziest combo so far has been on my priest. Combining a Door of Shadows power (Mask of Withering) with a Fade power (Volatile Phantasm) to create a dive-bombing priest build. I fly into a pack with Door of Shadows, debuffing them to take more damage. I then drop an image of myself with fade that detonates for massive damage. It may not be the craziest combo out there, but I really enjoy it because it's so different to the way the class would ever play outside of Torghast. While it's certainly not the craziest build ever - I was not even a little bit sad to get the reversing the pools in Mor'tegast on my Disc priest in the very first power pick. In the October call in show you guys had a lot of discussion about keybinds and macros. How important do you think those tools are to playing the game at a high level? I've been playing WoW since Wrath, and raiding since Cata, but I have never used any keybinds or macros, just clicking my spell buttons on the bars in the default UI. Even without these I managed to go 8/12 in Mythic Nyalotha with my guild. After this long I'd be afraid that I'd actually hurt my performance by trying to radically change my playstyle rather than improve it. I'm a hoarder in game and I go AFK for months and come back and have all this useless or maybe not so useless stuff....the question is when people are AFK for awhile and have to come back, clean house and get back into the game, is there a recommended method to do so? I will pop in and feel overwhelmed and feel like I'm so far behind with the full inventory and the missed content. How to handle inventory? How to catch up? Strategies for doing that? Do you think blizzard need to change how the server transfer services is done? Have it similar to FF14 where you pay 20 dollars for a few toons but you have a cool down to when you can do it again. I have some max toons on dead servers which I wanted to transfer to Zul'jin. They have all the old profession which I wanted to keep. It's too expensive at the moment with transfer services. What, if anything, do you feel WoW is lacking related to game play and/or storytelling, and where do you think it shines? We've seen Uther in the Bastion short. Which characters would you most like to see in the other three shorts? (Personally, I'd like to see Onyxia in Revendreth, if I'm understanding their concept correctly; and I'm struggling with the other two because I keep conflating when characters died and wanting to see characters that died post cataclysm, who would all be in the Maw)But I anticipate I'm going to think "of course" as soon as I know who the lore characters are. Because of a perceived short beta window, a few voices in the community seem concerned that Shadowlands may be releasing [Ragnaros voice] "too soon", what are your feelings towards the timing of SLs release and upcoming raid schedule? Hey Gents.... With the Afterlives short, what would you guys think of a netflix series in the same manner or would you prefer if they did something more of the cinematic approach. Where would you like to see the story start up and what would be your sought after story to cover. So this hasn't been exactly confirmed but I would put money on it. So I wanted to get your thoughts on the matter and if you would be cool if this is how it plays out. I feel like with the whole level squish, this is the way WoW is going to be going forward. Our new normal. I believe that we will get squished back to 50 with every future pre-patch and our goal will be to level to 60 in the new expansion. And then the previous expansion will be bottled up into it own little section and be available to do for the 10-50 experience. I personally think this is a great plan. I have hated corrupted gear and the entire system around it more than pretty much anything ever in the history of the game. What are your guys pros and cons of it? Thanks in advance. Now that we have finished up the raids in BFA what was your favorite raid and favorite/least favorite of both? Finding the best gear to put your corruptions on, what is the process you use to find the best pieces to put corruption on? Our raid team is part of a larger community, we decided to split off, what are some tips you guys have for this new team? I'd hoped to be able to get my question in voice, but it doesn't look like I will have time before i have to join my wife for supper. So here it is in chat.. I have been in a Heroic Progression raiding team for 5 years. We were always within a boss or two of Jason's raid team. Always getting AOTC and a few bosses into mythic before the next raid tier released. It was a hard decision but had to retire two months ago. The daily grind of the Vale, Uldum, horrific visions, mythic dungeons for better gear, etc, etc. was taking too many of my waking hours.
