Show Notes
How can a parent-child relationship define the mental health of a child?
In our earlier episodes, some of our guests felt that their mental illness was due to "bad" parenting. Do parents especially in India make an effort to understand - really understand their child- or are they just a "project" for them as pointed out by our guest for today- Varkha Chulani. Find her at www.varkhachulani.com.
The points of discussion are:
1) Can "Bad" parenting lead to mental illness in a child?
2) What could be a possible difference (in percentage) between genetic and sociological reasons for a child's mental illness?
3) Do Indian parents understand the EMOTIONAL WELL BEING of a child?
4) Are we taught to build a relationship with our children? What are the ways and is it something that needs to be constantly worked upon.
5) Some points on BAD parenting
6) Expectations from their child- is it justified? Can that stress on a child lead to mental illness?
