The United States death toll tops 140,000 with more than 3.8 million cases. New cases are up in 31 states as the CDC predicts 17,000 new United States deaths over the next three weeks and hospitalizations rise sharply. 

Los Angeles County breaks the daily record for hospitalizations. The Los Angeles mayor is on the "brink" of issuing a new stay-at-home order. Florida sees another day with more than 10,000 new cases reported. Atlanta mayor says that the Georgia governor is trying to "restrain" her from speaking. New York City enters phase four of reopening. Arizona's 7-day average positivity rate is the highest in the nation. 

Doctors beg Arizona governor to delay schools until October. Florida educators file a lawsuit against forced school reopenings. Florida's Miami-Dade county ICU bed capacity is now at 130 percent. 

Trump tweets "many people say it is patriotic to wear a face mask" after minimizing their importance for months. Trump is to resume coronavirus briefings as he downplays pandemic and misleads about coronavirus testing, deaths and masks. The White House is pushing to block new money for testing, tracing and the CDC. 

The Oxford vaccine trial shows the vaccine is safe and has immunity against the virus.
