The United States nears three million cases and 130,000 deaths as 31 states surge. A key model says more than 200,000 United States deaths will happen by November 1. 

Fauci is "strongly in favor" of mask mandate but not from the federal government. At least 50 percent of new coronavirus cases are coming from Texas, California, Arizona and Florida.

Florida's governor says that Florida is now in a "better position" to handle the soaring coronavirus cases because "We had a flatter curve." There have been more than 7,300 new cases in Florida in the past day, which makes for a total of 213,794 Florida cases. Miami-Dade hospitalizations are up 90 percent and ICU beds are at 86 percent capacity. Florida governor dodges questions on contact tracing. 

Trump says "Now it's time to be open... We're not closing. We'll never close" about the economy and schools. Trump falsely claims that the United States had the lowest mortality rate. Trump to travel to a virus hot spot in South Florida. Trump notifies congress of withdrawal from the World Health Organization. 

The World Health Organization warns Coronavirus is "accelerating" globally. HHS is launching testing sites in coronavirus hot spots.
