Show Notes

In this episode we dive into a interesting question about tabletop games, specifically warhammer. And that is, is Warhammer and wargames in general becoming more videogamey? This means, are newer wargames or editions making the rules more simple, incorporating more video game design elements, and removing the roleplay from wargames?

We take a brief look at wargame and warhammer history. We compare older editions of warhammer, which often emphasized roleplay, narrative moments, and complex rules, to current day warhammer and wargames where the rules are faster, simpler, and sometimes feel more like mechanics from a video game. Has this shift improved the game, or has something been lost along the way?
