What Democrats Will Do if the SAVE Act Fails | Brandon Gill

Congress could be heading for another One Big Beautiful Bill. Congressional Republicans are facing a double-bind of a lingering shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security and the urgent need to pass the SAVE America Act, an election integrity bill that would require proof of citizenship to vote and implement nationwide voter ID, before November’s midterm elections. Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, joined “The Signal Sitdown” to discuss where the rapidly-evolving GOP strategy to end the shutdown and secure American elections is heading. This is the number one most important piece of legislation we could be working on right now, Gill told The Daily Signal of the SAVE America Act. We need election integrity because every time an illegal alien votes in our election system, it disenfranchises an American citizen by canceling out their vote. Learn more about your ad choices. Why Are Our Young Women Unhappy and on Drugs? | Emma Waters

In a world where opportunity for women abounds, why are they so unhappy? Emma Waters, a policy analyst in the Center for Technology and the Human Person at The Heritage Foundation and author of a new book titled "Lead Like Jael: 7 Timeless Principles for Today's Women of Faith," has thought deeply about this question and joins “The Signal Sitdown” this week to discuss. “Women have more choices before them than ever before. And yet, despite the abundance of choices before them, they are less equipped than ever before with the life script or guidance necessary to make good decisions.” Learn more about your ad choices. A Radical Plan to Save Detroit and Restoring the Rust Belt | Rodney Lockwood

Detroit has become the poster child of American decline and for good reason: No city in what is now known as the Rust Belt experienced such soaring highs and such abysmal lows. In the 1950s, Detroit was the wealthiest city in America. By 2014, just one year after the city declared bankruptcy, Detroit was considered the poorest city in America. Detroit is starting to show signs of comeback by courting large investments from some of the companies who brought Detroit to its zenith, such as the Ford Motor Company, and balancing the city’s checkbook. But plenty of problems persist, and the whiplash has left policymakers and every day Americans asking what happened, and what is the way back for cities like Detroit. Rodney Lockwood is a member of the Board of Directors of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy with a business background in real estate. Lockwood joins “The Signal Sitdown” this week to help unpack Detroit’s collapse, the beginnings of its recovery, and share his bold plan to revitalize a forgotten part of the city. “I think Detroit is probably the most prime example,” of the Rust Belt’s collapse, Lockwood told The Daily Signal, “because other cities have not suffered as much as Detroit.” Learn more about your ad choices. The Critical Role JD Vance Plays on the American Right | Frank DeVito

Vice President JD Vance’s life has taken him from the hollowed out town of Middletown, Ohio to the halls of power. Between his challenging upbringing, his service in the Marine Corps, his stint in Silicon Valley, his Senate tenure, and now his vice presidency, it’s easy to lose sight of the two short days leading up to President Donald Trump picking Vance as his running mate. Reflect on those two days in the middle of July and you’ll see the distillation of a long career arc for such a young man. Author Frank DeVito joins “The Signal Sitdown” this week to discuss his new book on the vice president, titled “JD Vance and the Future of the Republican Party,” and the role Vance was born to play in American political life. Jeremy Carl Joins ‘The Signal Sitdown’ Following Tense Senate Hearing

Last week, Jeremy Carl, President Donald Trump’s nominee for assistant secretary of the Bureau of International Organization Affairs at the Department of State, testified on his nomination in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Carl has spent the better part of the last year of his life pursuing this State Department post, at great personal and professional expense. And, fresh off of the hearing in which Senate Democrats sought to destroy his reputation, Carl joined “The Signal Sitdown.”Carl was nominated to be assistant secretary of the Bureau of International Organization Affairs at the Department of State in June 2025. Eight months later, Carl is still waiting to be confirmed to a role that would put him at the nexus of American foreign policy and international organizations like the United Nations. Carl explains what’s wrong with organizations like the United Nations, why international bureaucrats are willing to turn a blind eye, and what America can do to ensure its interests are protected in these forums. Democrats in Washington have also been willing to turn a blind eye to the issues plaguing these international organizations, and they were not very interested in unpacking those issues at Carl’s hearing last week. Instead, Democrats on the committee turned the hearing into a hullabaloo by repeatedly accusing Carl of racism, sexism, antisemitism, and a grab-bag of other forms of bigotry. At several instances, these Democrat senators would make these accusations without asking him a question or giving him an opportunity to defend himself. When they did ask him questions, they would simply cut him off before he could fully answer. 👉For more videos like this, subscribe to The Daily Signal’s YouTube channel and enable notifications to be alerted the second a new video drops: https://www.youtube.com/dailysignal?sub_confirmation=1 Learn more about your ad choices. What Comes Next for Venezuela? State Department Official Explains | Tommy Pigott

It’s been five weeks since the U.S. removed former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro from power. But the question on everyone's mind is what comes next now that Maduro is no longer in power. State Department Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott joined “The Signal Sitdown” this week to discuss the plan to stabilize, recover, and transition power in Venezuela. Pigott explained the administration's phased approach to Venezuela. "First, the stability of Venezuela. Second, the recovery, where you might see the beginnings of investment, in oil infrastructure, for example. Then the third phase being that transition to a longer-term situation where hopefully you have a reliable partner in the region." To End Minnesota Chaos, Cut Off the Funding | Rep. Beth Van Duyne

Minnesota has been on fire for weeks, but this is nothing new for the city of Minneapolis. The last time the city saw organized protests and violent riots at this level was in 2021 during the George Floyd riots. “They [rioters] are so anxious to distract from what is actually happening in Minnesota, all the massive fraud that’s going on,” Rep. Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas, told The Daily Signal on the latest episode of “The Signal Sitdown.” The fraud, originally uncovered in Minnesota, is now being discovered in other states. While the fraud was new, these organized and professional protests and violent riots have been popping up across the country for years now. Duyne joined Daily Signal Politics Editor Bradley Devlin to discuss how she is combating these organized violent riots in Congress using the RICO Act. The RICO Act currently combats organized crime, and Duyne’s Stop FUNDERs Act seeks to broaden RICO to organized violent riots. “One of the reasons why I have introduced my Stop FUNDERs Act is that you are seeing these massive protests against folks like Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” the congresswoman explained. 👉For more videos like this, subscribe to The Daily Signal’s YouTube channel and enable notifications to be alerted the second a new video drops: https://www.youtube.com/dailysignal?sub_confirmation=1 Learn more about your ad choices. Culture War Plot Twist: Conservatives Are Actually Winning | Terry Schilling

Poll after poll shows a growing majority of Americans are against transgender issues and policies, from men in women’s sports to men in women’s bathrooms. Some of these issues are now 80-20 issues. It’s a remarkable feat, and it also makes one wonder how the conservative movement has had such resounding success against transgenderism when it resoundingly lost a very similar battle, the battle to defend traditional marriage. Terry Schilling, the president of the American Principles Project, has been a driving force on combatting transgenderism all over the country. He’s one of the few people who really saw transgenderism coming, and he’s smart enough to have learned from the mistakes made in the fight to protect traditional marriage and apply those lessons to fighting transgenderism. “I think it's all federal at this point. The states are good for temporary victories that can help build momentum, but we need to get federal victories.” Follow us on Instagram for EXCLUSIVE bonus content and the chance to be featured in our episodes: https://www.instagram.com/problematicwomen/ Connect with our hosts on socials! How the American Dream of Homeownership Became Unaffordable | Rep. Pat Harrigan, R-N.C.

America has hit another record, but it’s not a good one. Last year, the median age of the first-time home buyer in America hit 40 years old. In the 1980s, the average age of the first-time homebuyer in America was just 28. What happened? Rep. Pat Harrigan, R-N.C., joins us this week on “The Signal Sitdown” to explain how multi-billion-dollar institutional investors like BlackRock are crowding out younger families from buying homes. “The longer that you delay somebody from getting into that first house, the longer you delay their wealth-building trajectory toward actually putting themselves in a very solid, fiscally responsible position, which is where you want the middle class.” Follow us on Instagram for EXCLUSIVE bonus content and the chance to be featured in our episodes: https://www.instagram.com/problematicwomen/ Connect with our hosts on socials! 'Indisputable': ICE Officer Involved in Shooting Was Within His Rights, Watchdog Group Concludes

Oversight Project President Mike Howell joined "The Signal Sitdown" this week to discuss a new force analysis conducted by The Oversight Project into the ICE-involved shooting of a woman in Minnesota. "Our team of career law enforcement has carefully reviewed all available evidence and has cleared the officer," the force analysis reads from the Oversight Project, which has more than 60 years of law enforcement experience on its team. "The ICE officer in question is not only innocent, but was entirely justified in his actions. We pray that the far-left comes to their senses and ends this violence.” Renne Good, 37, was shot last week by an ICE officer after allegedly attempting to run him over in Minneapolis. Within hours, thousands of protestors gathered, and local lawmakers called for ICE to leave the city. "Immediately after that event, every anti-American liberal wacko became a 'use of force' expert, right? You have a lot like Omar [Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.] and others saying this is murder and all the Democrats saying this is murder," Howell said. "It's just incredibly frustrating to watch that because of the effect it has on a population." Through these claims' lawmakers, like Omar, have made, they have convinced this "mentally ill and unhinged population" that you can attempt to block a federal officer from doing their job. Omar did not respond to a request for comment from The Daily Signal. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Antifa Bombed His Office for Being Christian and Conservative | Steve Marshall

The George Floyd riots in 2020 brought a dark undercurrent of violence on the Left to the forefront of American politics. The violence had its epicenters in progressive cities, but it was very much national—thousands of arrests occurred at hundreds of violent demonstrations in what became the largest civil-unrest-related insurance event in American history. Many of America’s political leaders cowered in the face of this mass hysteria and made commitments to defund the police or ‘reimagine’ law enforcement. The agents of chaos received a powerful message: Violence will get you what you want. Fast forward to 2024: President Trump is nearly assassinated twice. Today, the nation is still reeling from the public assassination of Charlie Kirk. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has some firsthand experience with the violent Left. In February 2024, a radical Antifa leftist bombed his office. Whether it’s leftist violence, policing, or immigration, Marshall’s tenure as Alabama attorney general, which stretches back to 2017, had touchpoints with almost every major political issue facing America in the last ten years. Now, he’s running for one of Alabama’s seats in the U.S. Senate. He Was on the Verge of Committing Suicide. Now, He's One of Ohio's Leading Political Voices | Josh Williams

One evening, Josh Williams sat on the edge of his bed, gun in hand, and contemplated ending his life. “I was in a pit of despair that I can’t describe to you,” Williams said in his interview on “The Signal Sitdown.” After hearing some terrible news from doctors regarding a traumatic workplace injury, Williams had told his then-wife to take the kids to the store. “I sat on the edge of my bed with my gun, and I was ready to kill myself. And I wrote out my suicide note.” William’s three-year-old son, however, was left behind. Before Williams succumbed to despair and ended his life, his son walked in the room and said “Daddy, I’m hungry.” “I tucked my gun away, and I grabbed my kid, and I cried,” Williams said. “Man, I cried for hours.” When his wife returned home, Williams confronted her about leaving their three-year-old behind. “She said something kept telling her to leave him behind,” Williams recalled. “She couldn’t explain it.” “Now, later on, I know that was God working in his own mysterious ways, that he sent one of his foot soldiers in that day to save my life because he had a bigger assignment for me,” Williams told The Daily Signal. GOP Congressman Exposes Practice That Makes Congress 'Crooked As a Dog's Leg' | Tim Burchett

The worst thing that has ever happened to the Capitol Building? “Air conditioning,” says Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn. Burchett joined ”The Signal Sitdown” at the Republican Study Committee's new media row to discuss how a group he calls the “war pimps” came to dominate Washington—and what he’s doing to try to stop them. Installing air conditioning in the Capitol, Burchett said, gave members of Congress the wrong impression: “These guys think they need to be year round,” he said, “I do more work when I'm at home, brother. This is a show up here.” Burchett explained that “a war pimp is somebody who profits off war and or that enjoys war because it furthers their career.” And this advancement is not only political, but financial. “Congress is infinitely broken and we are crooked as a dog's leg.” Subscribe to The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-tony-kinnett-cast/id1714879044 Don't forget our other shows: Virginia Allen's Problematic Women: https://www.dailysignal.com/problematic-women Bradley Devlin's The Signal Sitdown: https://www.dailysignal.com/the-signal-sitdown Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/DailySignal Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/TheDailySignal Thanks for making The Daily Signal Podcast your trusted source for the day’s top news. Will the US Go to War in Venezuela? | Kingsley Wilson

The question top of mind in Washington, D.C. right now is what is the United States trying to get out of ongoing operations in Venezuela? Very rarely is it the case that the question occupying minds on Capitol Hill and in think tanks is the same question everyday Americans are asking. But what’s happening between America and Venezuela right now is a rare exception. A recent CBS/YouGov poll found that 76% of Americans believe the administration needs to explain its position on the use of military force in Venezuela. The same poll found that 53% are in support of the strikes against the narco-terrorists looking to bring drugs into the United States, but 70% of Americans are against taking military action in Venezuela. On Tuesday, Trump told reporters at a cabinet meeting that "we're going to start doing those strikes on land” in Venezuela, too. To provide that explanation, Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson is on this week’s episode of "The Signal Sitdown" about the Department of War’s ongoing operations in our near abroad. ‘Congress Is Irredeemable:’ Why I’m Running for South Carolina Governor | Rep. Ralph Norman

The 2026 midterms are shaping up to be one of the most consequential midterm elections in modern American history. In November 2024, the American people gave Republicans the trifecta—the White House, the Senate, and the House—a mandate victory that some conservatives did not think possible. Democrats were already expected to have the advantage heading into the 2026 midterms, but impressive Democrat wins in off-year elections just one year after their thorough electoral embarrassment has cemented the idea that Democrats are poised to make a comeback. As Republicans look to break a blue wave before it crests, Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., joins “The Signal Sitdown” to discuss the 2026 midterm elections and his bid to become the next governor of South Carolina. Norman is looking to leave Washington and head back to South Carolina because “Congress is irredeemable.” Keep Up With The Daily Signal Sign up for our email newsletters: https://www.dailysignal.com/email Subscribe to our other shows: Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL9753340027 The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL2284199939 The Signal Sitdown: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL2026390376 Problematic Women: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL7765680741 Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/intent/user?screen_name=DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/dailysignal?sub_confirmation=1 Subscribe on your favorite podcast platform and never miss an episode. What Trump Is Doing to End the Slaughter of Christians in Nigeria | Rep. Riley Moore

The horrific slaughter of Christians in Nigeria has caught the attention of President Donald Trump and the United States government. Trump has tapped Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.V., to provide a report about the situation unfolding in Nigeria, where estimates place the number of slaughtered Christians well over 50,000 since 2009, with more than 7,000 of these deaths having occurred in 2025 alone. In Congress, Moore was one of the first voices drawing attention to the intensifying atrocities committed against Christians in Nigeria, and he joins “The Signal Sitdown” this week to discuss. “Nigeria is the most dangerous countries on the face of the planet to be a Christian,” Moore told The Daily Signal. “This has been happening for a very long time, and it's getting worse and worse and worse every year.” Subscribe to The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-tony-kinnett-cast/id1714879044 Don't forget our other shows: Virginia Allen's Problematic Women: https://www.dailysignal.com/problematic-women Bradley Devlin's The Signal Sitdown: https://www.dailysignal.com/the-signal-sitdown Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/DailySignal Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/TheDailySignal Thanks for making The Daily Signal Podcast your trusted source for the day’s top news. Newsom Goes to War With Trump Over 2026 Midterms | Hans von Spakovsky

California voters greenlit Gov. Gavin Newsom’s war against President Donald Trump for control in the 2026 midterms. Voters in California approved of Proposition 50, a ballot measure that allows Newsom and Democrats to take control of redistricting from the state’s independent commission, by an overwhelming margin—nearly 2-to-1. Democrat victory in the Proposition 50 fight, not to mention the other off-year elections, is the Left’s strongest sally yet in what has become known as the redistricting wars. Hans von Spakovsky, a senior legal fellow at The Heritage Foundation, joins “The Signal Sitdown” to discuss. “What Prop 50 does is it temporarily takes away the power from the independent redistricting commission to draw up congressional districts so the Legislature can do it, and they're going to use that power to redraw the congressional districts,” von Spakovsky told The Daily Signal. A 2008 referendum first established the independent redistricting commission that California voters rejected Tuesday. There's a Revolution Happening You've Never Heard Of. It's Called "The Great Feminization" | Helen Andrews

For the past half decade or more, conservative intellectuals have tried to answer the question: Where did woke come from? Some believe it is rebranded cultural Marxism. Others say it came from academia with the postmodern rejection of objective truth ultimately leading to the weaponization of culture. Maybe it came from the global corporations because woke is the ideology of the new managerial elite in late-stage neo-liberalism. But perhaps “woke” and its offspring like “cancel culture” came from something called “The Great Feminization.” Helen Andrews, author of “Boomers: The Men and Women Who Promised Freedom and Delivered Disaster,” recently wrote an essay called “The Great Feminization,” a term borrowed from the pseudonymous online writer J Stone, that explains how “woke” is “an epiphenomenon of demographic feminization.” She joins “The Signal Sitdown” this week to discuss. “We had a big fight called feminism in the 1970s over whether or not we thought women could be lawyers. And we decided that they could, and that's great,” Andrews explained. “But it took a long time to go from token representation of the kind that was achieved in the heyday of second wave feminism to what we have now.” Learn more about your ad choices. Inside Trump and Rubio’s Restructuring of the State Department | Tommy Pigott

While President Donald Trump did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize this year, he could be the odds on favorite to win the distinguished award in 2026 because of his work brokering peace deals or ceasefires in eight different conflicts this year. Trump’s deal-making diplomacy comes as left-wing critics thought this level of success impossible because of Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s efforts to completely reform the State Department. The critics were wrong. State Department Deputy Spokesman Tommy Pigott joins “The Signal Sitdown” to provide an inside look at the State Department overhaul and how Trump has managed to find pathways to peace all over the world. The Biden administration’s poor prioritization of America and its interests was painfully on display inside the State Department that Trump and Rubio inherited. Things were so bad, in fact, that Trump’s political appointees had a difficult time simply tracking down just how many people actually worked for the state department. While many challenges remain, Pigott told The Daily Signal, “I think as Americans, we can be proud that we have a president who is a peacemaker.” Subscribe to The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-tony-kinnett-cast/id1714879044 Don't forget our other shows: Virginia Allen's Problematic Women: https://www.dailysignal.com/problematic-women Bradley Devlin's The Signal Sitdown: https://www.dailysignal.com/the-signal-sitdown Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/DailySignal Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/TheDailySignal Thanks for making The Daily Signal Podcast your trusted source for the day’s top news. How Trump Changed Republicans' Shutdown Game | Rep. Mike Haridopolos

There’s no end in sight for the current government shutdown, which entered its third week on Wednesday. While Democrats are clinging to their $1.5 trillion demands—and Republicans, for once, are refusing to capitulate—there has been a palpable shift in the government shutdown state of play. This week, Rep. Mike Haridopolos, R-Fla., joins “The Signal Sitdown” to discuss the evolving dynamics of shutdown politics. “Historically it should be a surprise,” that Democrats have opted to shut down the government, Haridopolos told The Daily Signal. “The Democrats historically have always got along with a clean [continuing resolution],” he added. That’s especially the case in recent history, as Democrats have voted upwards of a dozen times for a nearly identical continuing resolution that kept the government open and running on spending levels set during former President Joe Biden’s administration. To add insult to injury, the continuing resolution that would last through Nov. 21 was negotiated by Republican and Democrat appropriators. “We negotiated this ahead of time,” Haridopolos told The Daily Signal. “[House Appropriations Chairman] Tom Cole sat down, of course, with the House appropriators and Democrat appropriators, and said, ‘We're going to have a clean [continuing resolution], what else do you need? We want to do it till January.” Democrats, however, wanted the continuing resolution to expire in November. “We acquiesced and said, ‘Okay, fine, November 21,’” Haridopolos continued. “We negotiated. So this drama about ‘They never had a seat at the table’ is wrong.” Keep Up With The Daily Signal Sign up for our email newsletters: https://www.dailysignal.com/email Subscribe to our other shows: The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL2284199939 The Signal Sitdown: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL2026390376 Problematic Women: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL7765680741 Victor Davis Hanson: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL9753340027 Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/intent/user?screen_name=DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/dailysignal?sub_confirmation=1 Subscribe on your favorite podcast platform and never miss an episode. Congressman Completely Debunks Democrats’ Government Shutdown Narrative | Rep. Dusty Johnson

The Democrats and their allies in the corporate media have been lying through their teeth about the government shutdown and their ridiculous demands to reopen the government. This week, Rep. Dusty Johnson, R-S.D., joins “The Signal Sitdown” to debunk the Left’s chosen narratives about the government shutdown. ”They're big mad about Donald Trump,” Johnson tells The Daily Signal. “That's the 'A' answer. The 'B' answer is that [Senate Minority Leader] Chuck Schumer has a base problem, and this is a base management exercise for him.” Johnson went on to explain why Schumer’s base pressured him into shutting down the government when the measures that the Senate is currently considering to end the shutdown are essentially appropriations levels set during the Biden administration, levels Congress voted to continue in March. “Chuck Schumer got rolled,” in that March funding battle, Johnson says. Former BLS Nominee EJ Antoni Tells All About His Nomination Fight

On Tuesday, the nomination of E.J. Antoni, the Chief Economist at The Heritage Foundation, to become the next Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, was withdrawn. In his first long-form interview since his withdrawal, Antoni joins “The Signal Sitdown” for an inside look at life as a presidential nominee and the problems with our economic data that President Donald Trump is trying to solve. When Antoni met with the president in the Oval Office upon his nomination, the biggest piece of advice that Trump gave him was “always tell the truth.” In the months since President Donald Trump nominated him for the position in August, Antoni has lived the unique life of a presidential nominee—constant meetings on Capitol Hill, continued preparation for the nominated role in the administration, and very little sleep. But, day after day, Antoni took the president’s words to heart and told Senators the hard truths about our economy and our economic data. Antoni explained why the BLS is in desperate need of reform, ”The problems were starting to surface, really, many, many years ago with things like people just not responding to government surveys anymore. Those response rates have been steadily trending down,” Antoni told The Daily Signal. Exposing Antifa With Harmeet Dhillon

There are few, if any, more qualified to talk about America’s scourge of left-wing violence and the organizations that commit it than Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon who heads the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division. In the wake of the assassination of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University two weeks ago, President Donald Trump has activated his administration to confront these anarchists head on, going so far as to designate Antifa a “domestic terrorist organization.” For more than a decade prior to taking her post at the Department of Justice, Dhillon was suing Antifa members and institutions that suppressed free speech due to the threat of left-wing violence on behalf of clients across the country. Dhillon joins “The Signal Sitdown” this week to discuss how the Trump Justice Department is restoring law and order in the public square. Charlie Kirk Was 'the Best of Us' | Steve Deace

The conservative movement lost “the best of us" last week after Charlie Kirk was assassinated for his conservative values and martyred for his unyielding faith in Jesus Christ. Steve Deace, a BlazeTV host, joined “The Signal Sitdown” where he responded to the death of his personal friend and Turning Point USA founder. Because Charlie was such a bright light, “the enemy wanted to take him out,” Deace said. To honor Charlie’s memory, it’s time for conservatives to “get more aggressive,” Deace continued. “We need to mourn, and it's OK to mourn," he said. "Frankly, his legacy demands that we do. And then, when we're done, we clean off our faces, we wipe the last bit of tears from our eyes and snot from our nose, and we get up, and we get back on offense.” Subscribe to The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-tony-kinnett-cast/id1714879044 Don't forget our other shows: Virginia Allen's Problematic Women: https://www.dailysignal.com/problematic-women Bradley Devlin's The Signal Sitdown: https://www.dailysignal.com/the-signal-sitdown Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/DailySignal Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/TheDailySignal Thanks for making The Daily Signal Podcast your trusted source for the day’s top news. The Man Who Wants to Make 10,000 Stephen Millers| Nick Solheim

“Personnel is policy” is an old truism in the conservative movement. After President Donald Trump won the 2024 election, one of the big question marks as he headed into his second term was whether or not those tasked with setting up his administration had fully appreciated that time-tested wisdom. In his first term, Trump saw his agenda undermined by deep state and Republican Party apparatchiks alike. That problem most clearly manifested at the top of the administration, with figures such as former National Security Advisor John Bolton, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley playing outsized roles. But the American Right’s personnel problem runs far deeper than the Cabinet. At every level, Trump was facing a shortage of staffers who believed in the president’s vision and were willing to enact it. Nick Solheim co-founded American Moment with Saurabh Sharma and Jake Mercier in 2021 to solve this problem beyond just a second Trump term. Solheim, now the organization's CEO, joined “The Signal Sitdown” to take viewers inside the conservative movement’s changing personnel pipeline. The American Dream Is Dying. HUD Secretary Scott Turner Aims to Revive It | Sec. Scott Turner

The American dream is in crisis. A study published by Pew Research last year found that only 42% of adults under 50 say the American dream is still attainable. The belief is bipartisan: Only 38% of Democrats under 50 and 48% of Republicans under 50 believe it is possible to achieve the American dream. President Donald Trump felt the storm gathering. He turned heads when he descended down the golden escalator of Trump Tower in 2015 and thundered that “sadly, the American dream is dead.” He captured that lightning in a bottle not once but twice, observing that under former President Joe Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris, “you don’t hear about the American dream anymore—it’s dead.” And what’s the American dream without the white picket fence? Generations of Americans have grown up believing that owning a home has been a key tenet of living the American dream, but homes are increasingly unaffordable. For this monumental task, Trump has tapped Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner. Turner joined “The Signal Sitdown” this week to discuss a housing crisis that isn’t just about houses—it’s about the soul of our homeland. One reason why young Americans and their families feel the American dream slipping away is the increasing unaffordability of a home for the average American. From the 1960s to the 1980s, the average house cost about three times the yearly median wage in America. Today, the average house costs seven times the yearly median wage. Woke Is Liberalism All Grown Up | Dr. Patrick Deneen

Notre Dame Professor Patrick Deneen’s book, “Why Liberalism Failed,” was not a project undertaken to explain the Trump phenomenon after President Donald Trump’s surprise victory in the 2016 election. Nevertheless, it quickly entered the panoply of books, with Vice President JD Vance’s “Hillbilly Elegy” among them, that provided insight into a new era of not only American but Western politics. The book’s success, even featured on former President Barack Obama’s list of recommended books, catapulted Deneen to one of the most prominent academic figures in the West and his ideas to the forefront of America’s most contentious political debates. Much has happened in the years since “Why Liberalism Failed” was published. Liberalism managed to claw back power, first through undermining Trump’s agenda at almost every turn from within, and then through the empty vessel of former President Joe Biden. Yet, Trump was able to mount a surprising return in 2024 with a new resolve to dismantle the forces of liberalism concentrated in Washington, D.C. Deneen joined “The Signal Sitdown” this week to discuss what future lies beyond liberalism. The Communist Who Invented Modern Conservatism with Daniel Flynn

You may not have ever heard the name of a man who was among the most profound intellectuals of the modern conservative movement in America. Frank S. Meyer was the man who came up with the idea of fusionism, an alliance between traditionalists and libertarians that underpinned the anti-communist bloc that composed the American Right for the latter half of the 20th century. Ironically enough, Meyer first came up with the idea of fusionism when he was an out-and-proud Communist, though he initially used the term as a unification of the American Founding and communist ideas a la Howard Zinn’s “A People’s History of the United States.” Daniel Flynn, a Hoover Institute fellow and senior editor of “The American Spectator,” has spent the last few years writing a new biography of Meyer called “The Man Who Invented Conservatism.” His book brings to light new documents and information about Meyer’s life previously unknown, and he joined “The Signal Sitdown” to discuss the man-turned-missing-link in the conservative movement. How Modernity Betrayed Education | Dr. Matthew Spalding

Should I even send my kids back to school at all? Parents at every level are asking this question, whether they're concerned about the exploding cost of higher education or the liberal takeover of the preschool classroom, because there is a disease running rampant through our education system. Though Dr. Matthew Spalding, a Ph.D., is not a medical doctor, he has diagnosed this disease that has led to more parents questioning America’s educational institutions. As the dean of the Van Andel Graduate School of Government at Hillsdale College’s Washington, D.C., campus and a Gov. Ron DeSantis appointee to the New College of Florida Board of Trustees, Spalding continues to work on a cure. He joins “The Signal Sitdown” this week to discuss. 'Mostly Peaceful' Riots? ICE Chief Exposes the LA Lie | Todd Lyon

Two months ago, violent riots broke out in America’s second largest city after immigration enforcement officers served legal warrants, signed by a judge, to individuals in this country illegally. The rioters, which the media assured you were ‘mostly peaceful,’ laid siege to federal buildings, attacked law enforcement officers, lit cop cars on fire, and looted businesses for days—all while flying the flag of a foreign country. Of course, we’re talking about the Los Angeles riots, so we’ll let you guess what flag they were flying. These anarchists seemed well organized and well funded. Things got so out of control in Los Angeles, in fact, that the president called in 2,000 national guardsmen and hundreds of Marines. Yet, somehow, just two months later, the country has completely moved on. But it’s really worth reflecting on the LA riots and what inspired them because if anarchists can destroy city blocks under a foreign flag, you actually don’t have a sovereign country. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons comes on "The Signal Sitdown" this week to do just that. Lyons is an Air Force veteran with over 25 years of law enforcement experience, and almost 20 of those years have been with ICE. He knows what he’s talking about when it comes to enforcing federal law. And for Lyons and the agents under his command, the LA riots were just the tip of the iceberg. Since the Trump administration entered into office, attacks on ICE agents have increased over 800 percent. “It is the worst I've ever seen in my whole career in law enforcement,” Lyons told The Daily Signal about the attacks on ICE agents. “I get asked a lot of time, ‘what's the one thing that keeps you up at night?’ It's the violence and the attacks on officers, agents, and not only them, but their families.” Keep Up With The Daily Signal Sign up for our email newsletters: https://www.dailysignal.com/email Subscribe to our other shows: The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://open.spotify.com/show/7AFk8xjiOOBEynVg3JiN6g The Signal Sitdown: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL2026390376 Problematic Women: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL7765680741 Victor Davis Hanson: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL9809784327 Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/intent/user?screen_name=DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/dailysignal?sub_confirmation=1 Subscribe on your favorite podcast platform and never miss an episode. The Man Who Laid the Groundwork for the Rise of Trump and the Death of the Media | Larry O’Connor

It’s Andrew Breitbart’s world, we’re all just living in it. Tragically, Breitbart himself is not. He died suddenly on March 1, 2012 at just 43 years of age. In his life, Breitbart was always a pioneer, pushing media and politics to the edges of the map only to open a completely new frontier. There’s something fitting to him exploring the frontier of eternity just a little before the rest of us in his earthly death. Breitbart spent most of his career at the confluence of Hollywood, media, and politics. He was one of the first men on the right to clearly see the complete picture. “Celebrity is everything in this country,” Breitbart once said. “Media is everything. It's everything.” After listening to a radio interview with Breitbart, Larry O’Connor, then a show manager for Broadway productions, contacted Breitbart and wanted to write for his blog Big Hollywood. O’Connor found Breitbart, but Breitbart also found O’Connor. Now a radio host with Washington, D.C.’s WMAL, probably the most influential political radio station in the country, and author of a new book titled “Shameless Liars,” O’Connor joined "The Signal Sitdown" to discuss how Andrew Breitbart saw the rise of Trump, and the efforts to take him down like the Russiagate hoax, coming. Democrats are Setting the Stage for Another Government Shutdown Showdown

On Tuesday, The Daily Signal was the first to report that the White House would be sending another rescissions package—the same mechanism that President Donald Trump and Republicans just used to defund NPR and PBS—to Capitol Hill that focuses on education. With the Sept. 30 government funding deadline fast approaching, Democrats are threatening a government shutdown. “We Democrats want a bipartisan deal,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Tuesday. “The bottom line is Republicans are making it much harder—rescissions, impoundment, pocket rescissions directly undoes this.” Subscribe to The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-tony-kinnett-cast/id1714879044 Don't forget our other shows: Virginia Allen's Problematic Women: https://www.dailysignal.com/problematic-women Bradley Devlin's The Signal Sitdown: https://www.dailysignal.com/the-signal-sitdown Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/DailySignal Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/TheDailySignal Thanks for making The Daily Signal Podcast your trusted source for the day’s top news. Why Won't Congress Investigate the Epstein Case? | Rep. Eric Burlison

After weeks of right-wing infighting, President Donald Trump on Thursday evening ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to seek the release of grand jury testimony relating to the Jeffrey Epstein case in which the deceased mysterious billionaire was accused of sexually abusing scores of underaged girls. The president’s post on Truth Social carried a begrudging tone: Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval. This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now! Minutes later, Bondi took to X and said, “we are ready to move the court tomorrow to unseal the grand jury transcripts.” However, a judge will determine what is ultimately unsealed, and the review process might take some time. Those on the right pushing for more transparency regarding the Epstein case cheered the move as a step in the right direction, but it’s unlikely to end the Epstein saga because the grand jury testimony makes up only a fraction of what the government currently has on Epstein and some questions remain about the case that likely needs further investigation. Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo., has been pushing for radical transparency regarding the Epstein case. As a member of the House Oversight Committee, he could be one of the major players if Congress decides to conduct its own fact-finding missions into the Epstein case. He joined “The Signal Sitdown” for a special episode about the lingering questions regarding the Epstein case, what questions remain to be answered, and what the Trump administration and Congress can do to give the American people answers. Steve Scalise: Inside the Final Push to Pass Trump's 'Big, Beautiful Bill'

It was an incredibly hectic and high-stakes 48 hours when the House leadership cobbled together the votes to send the One Big, Beautiful Bill to President Donald Trump’s desk. Will Zohran Mamdani Become the Democrat Party's Trump? | Emily Jashinsky

Americans’ trust in the corporate media has cratered. And with good reason: After decades of deception and distortion—considering its uncritical coverage of the wars in the Middle East, its peddling of the Trump-Russia collusion narrative, its inconsistent reporting on COVID-19, its selective ignorance during the 2020 election, and its efforts to conceal President Biden’s cognitive decline—the corporate press has earned every ounce of the public’s suspicion. Now, Americans are tuning out the noise and tuning in to new voices to stay informed. UnHerd Washington Correspondent Emily Jashinsky has emerged as one of those voices. She joined “The Signal Sitdown” this week to discuss her new show with Megyn Kelly’s MK Media, “After Party with Emily Jashinsky,” the fallout from President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” and whether or not Zohran Mamdani represents the future of the national Democrat Party. “I'm very weirdly optimistic,” Jashinsky said of the alternative media’s rise. “I feel so strange about this because one of the reasons I got into media is because I've always been obsessed with media and I've always been so pessimistic. But the last, I don't know, year or two, I've started to feel optimistic about media, not because there aren't still very powerful bad actors, not because some of the new actors aren't also bad, but because the demand for transparency from the audience, I think, is pushing us in at least a better direction.” Learn more about your ad choices. Nationalism Is the Answer to Globalism | Yoram Hazony

Two 2016 elections — President Donald Trump in the U.S. and Brexit in the United Kingdom — sent our global elites reeling. The only people not surprised that borders and sovereignty prevailed on both sides of the Atlantic, it seemed, were those still bold enough to call theselves nationalists. Yoram Hazony was so bold as to be an unapologetic nationalist. So much so that he authored a book titled “The Virtue of Nationalism” in 2018. For the Right, the book articulated the gut-sense that nationalism, though portrayed as the boogeyman of modern Western history, was worth preserving. For the Left, it entered the canon of books to "understand Trump and the MAGA movement," which includes now Vice President JD Vance’s “Hillbilly Elegy.” Seven years on, much has changed. President Donald Trump’s America First movement has completely altered the terms of America’s debates on immigration, trade, and foreign policy. His impact has sent shockwaves across the globe, from Argentina, to Hungary, to the Middle East and beyond. Now that nationalists are no longer considered fringe actors, Hazony is publishing a second edition to “The Virtue of Nationalism.” He joined “The Signal Sitdown” to discuss the book and what to make of a more mature MAGA movement in the United States. The Art of the Iran Deal? Trump Pushes for Peace After US Strikes on Iran | Will Thibeau

It’s always shocking to see some middle-aged, terribly overweight, poorly shaven magazine editor furiously posting on X, baying for blood in a country thousands of miles away. Shocking, yet expected, especially over the past two weeks, as Israel and Iran have exchanged fire and President Donald Trump has weighed America’s role in the conflict. Over the weekend, the president decided to launch an attack on Iranian nuclear sites, which included deploying B-2s loaded with bunker busters, in an operation called Midnight Hammer. Shortly after the operation, Trump began calling for a ceasefire to allow the president and his team to negotiate a new nuclear deal with Iran. The sabre-scribblers could not be satisfied with anything short of a regime change war. Of course, they have no intention of going to the battlefield themselves—let alone sending their sons. More often than not, they are Never Trumpers who don’t even trust the commander in chief to lead the wars they call for. These keyboard warriors have no idea what war is really like, but Will Thibeau does. A veteran of the Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment and the director of the American Military Project at the Claremont Institute’s Center for the American Way of Life, Thibeau joined “The Signal Sitdown” to discuss why Trump is rightfully resisting calls for regime change to focus on his domestic agenda and building a military worthy of the golden age. “Frankly, when you're in the army, it's all you hope for,” Thibeau said. “I mean, guys literally prayed to be able to deploy and seek combat.” He likened being a Ranger platoon leader to “holding dogs on leash,” but age and combat changes things: “With some years and with children now, for me, [war] is the last thing you want to happen. It is a measure of last resort for the nation.” Subscribe to The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-tony-kinnett-cast/id1714879044 Keep Up With The Daily Signal Sign up for our email newsletters: https://www.dailysignal.com/email Subscribe to our other shows: Problematic Women: https://www.dailysignal.com/problematic-women Victor Davis Hanson: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL9809784327 Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/intent/user?screen_name=DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/dailysignal?sub_confirmation=1 Thanks for making The Daily Signal Podcast your trusted source for the day’s top news. 'I'm More Libertarian Than You!' Rand Paul Opens Up About His Conversations with Trump, Iran War

At any moment, President Donald Trump could decide to directly involve the United States in yet another war in the Middle East—this time against Iran. The stakes could not be higher, and, this week, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., joins "The Signal Sitdown" to discuss. “I think President Trump's instincts are to try to keep us out of war,” Paul told The Daily Signal. “I think he has these instincts within his belief system of restraint and less intervention.” Nevertheless, Paul warned that there might be “forces within his administration that would like to get us more involved.” The United States’ support for Israel in the war that broke out on Oct. 7, 2023 has, as of writing, been limited to assisting Israel defend against drone and missile strikes and providing Israel with intelligence, military aid, and weapons sales. At the same time, the United States was pursuing a new nuclear deal with Iran, and news reports suggested American and Iranian negotiators were getting close. But the war entered a new phase when Israel launched Operation Rising Lion on June 13 in what the Israeli government has described as a preemptive attack on Iranian nuclear capabilities. The U.S. government has insisted this action was taken unilaterally by the Israelis, but with some knowledge by the U.S. The extent of that knowledge, and American policymakers’ feelings towards it, remain unclear. How President Trump Stopped Democrats’ Plan for Permanent Power | Sen. Eric Schmitt

It was not very long ago that liberal writers would rhapsodize about how America’s changing demographics would spell Republicans’ doom. A 2012 headline from The New York Times read “Demographic Shift Brings New Worry for Republicans.” By 2014, the corporate media was already writing the GOP’s obituary: “Republicans have a major demographic problem. And it’s only going to get worse” one Washington Post headline claimed. Then conservatives committed the crime of noticing—noticing that mass migration followed by mass amnesty was Democrats’ play for political power. The Left labeled them peddlers of the "Great Replacement Theory." Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo, joined "The Signal Sitdown" to discuss how President Donald Trump upended Democrat plans for permanent control in Washington. For Schmitt, it all starts with one crucial realization: The American nation is “not just an idea.” Subscribe to The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-tony-kinnett-cast/id1714879044 Keep Up With The Daily Signal Sign up for our email newsletters: https://www.dailysignal.com/email Subscribe to our other shows: Problematic Women: https://www.dailysignal.com/problematic-women Victor Davis Hanson: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL9809784327 Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/intent/user?screen_name=DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/dailysignal?sub_confirmation=1 Thanks for making The Daily Signal Podcast your trusted source for the day’s top news. Inside the Fight to Pass The Laken Riley Act | Rep. Mike Collins

In February 2024, Rep. Mike Collins, R-Ga., received a devastating phone call from a sheriff in his home district while attending a Trump rally in South Carolina. The sheriff informed Collins that Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student enrolled at Augusta University’s College of Nursing, had been murdered while jogging on the University of Georgia campus in Athens on Feb. 24. The gruesome murder set off almost a year of policy debates and political calculus that culminated in President Donald Trump signing the Laken Riley Act into law. Collins, the leading House Republican on that piece of legislation, joined "The Signal Sitdown" to give a behind-the-scenes look at how Republicans got this major legislative accomplishment across the finish line. The Man Who Helped Prove Biden Wasn't Actually Running the Country | Mike Howell

No other organization was a bigger thorn in the side of former President Joe Biden’s administration than the Oversight Project. The group sued the Biden administration about 100 times on issues ranging from lawfare to illegal immigration during the former president’s tenure. Biden may be gone, but the Oversight Project continues to push for answers to this fundamental question of the Biden era: Who was really in charge? Recent revelations about the former president's use of an auto-pen machine—brought to light by the Oversight Project—paired with Biden's limited knowledge of the documents he signed, suggests the answer was not Joe Biden. Yet, some Republicans on Capitol Hill, because of their victory in the 2024 elections, are no longer as interested in that question and would rather act as if the last four years didn’t happen. Mike Howell, president of the Oversight Project, joined "The Signal Sitdown" to discuss how to hold Biden and his ilk accountable for the damage they’ve done to the country. Abolish the ATF | Rep. Eric Burlison

On February 28, 1993, 70 agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives laid siege to the home of the Branch Davidians near Waco, Texas. By April, skirmishes with ATF and a fire resulted in the deaths of more than 80 men, women, and children. Significant questions still linger about the events of the Waco siege—also known as the Waco massacre—but at the heart of the mystery lies a stark and troubling question: How did a federal investigation into alleged illegal weapons spiral into a catastrophic inferno that left over 80 people dead? Waco lives on in infamy, but it is a flashpoint in a wider record of controversial behavior from the ATF. Incidents such as Ruby Ridge, Operation Fast and Furious, and the fatal shooting of Brian Malinowski in March 2024 continue to raise serious concerns about the agency’s strategies and use of force. Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo., has introduced a bill to abolish the ATF. He joined "The Signal Sitdown" this week to break it down. CCP-Linked Stores on Military Bases? This Congressman Is Trying to Close Them Down | Rep. Pat Harrigan

Before freshman Rep. Pat Harrigan, R-N.C., came to Washington in January, no one seemed to notice that a Chinese Communist Party-linked company had stores that sold health products to our troops. Though it was once an American-owned company, the vitamin store GNC was purchased by the CCP-linked Harbin Pharmaceuticals in 2020 after GNC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Even prior to the sale, the CCP-linked company held a 40% stake in GNC.
