Members of the Air Support Unit in York Region operate the police helicopter, Air2, soaring more than 500 feet above residents.
This unit comprises civilian pilots and tactical flight officers skilled in patrol and suspect tactics, airborne surveillance, and advanced thermal imaging.
They provide vital support to frontline officers, assisting in criminal apprehensions, vehicle pursuits, searches for missing persons, traffic enforcement, and even identifying indoor cannabis grow operations using cutting-edge thermal imaging technology.
