In this week’s episode we meet Dr Mahmood, a dentist working in the heart of Birmingham. Tune in as we learn about his love for poetry, spoken word and visual arts. We share his journey as a neuroscience grad to becoming a dentist. We explore why creativity is important and how mental health among men is just as important as burnout. He gives us an insight into the world of Maxfax and why it proved to be a valuable experience for him.

 

Kamil Mahmood is a Dentist, Poet, Spoken word and Visual Artist born and raised in Birmingham. His work explores identity, community, Islam, the British Pakistani diaspora, masculinity and international activism. He combines contemporary commentary with narratives of the often overlooked and unheard, championing words as tools for change. His debut collection 'Mute Men' was published by Verve Poetry Press. He currently works as a dentist in Birmingham.
