One year ago Bruce Moncur, Afghanistan campaign CAF veteran and speaking for Afghan Vets of Canada joined us on air with former Chief of Defence Staff General Rick Hillier one year ago to lobby for Canada's highest military honour, the Canadian Victoria Cross, to be awarded to Private Jess Larochelle who in 2006 in Afghanistan performed heroically to save his fellow unit members while Private Larochelle was himself gravely wounded, but kept on fighting. Liberals in parliament nevertheless voted against a motion in the house to award the Victoria Cross to Private Larochelle and the DND announced they will not bow to public pressure supporting Jess Larochelle.

Guest: Bruce Moncur. Afghan Vets of Canada. Was himself badly wounded in a friendly fire incident when a fragment of U.S. jet shell fragment lodged in his skull. In WWI, 73 Canadians were awarded the Victoria Cross. 16 Canadians received the Victoria Cross in WWII. In 1993 the Canadian Victoria Cross was struck by Queen Elizabeth II. No Canadian has been awarded either VC since 1945.
