Parliamentary Budget Officer Yves Giroux released two reports:
- Costing Support for EV Battery Manufacturing. PBO estimates the total cost of government support (subsidies) for EV battery manufacturing by Northvolt, Volkswagen and Stellantis-LGES to be $43.6 billion, $5.8 billion higher than the murky federal/ON/QC governments estimated costs of $37.7 billion.
- Pausing the fuel charge on heating oil and doubling the rural top-up rate for fuel charge rebates (carbon tax)
As well, the PBO expects the economy to 'stagnate' and federal deficit to balloon to $46.5B this year.
