Tomorrow (April 1) in addition to Canadians being saddled with the newest installment of the carbon tax, members of parliament will receive automatic salary increases. The basic MP salary will reach $203,100, with substantially more going to cabinet ministers (additional $96K), opposition party leaders, committee chairs, parliamentary secretaries, etc. Prime Minister Trudeau's salary will increase to $406,200. According to national polling by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation 80% of Canadians of voting age oppose the parliamentary pay hike.
