U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has said he would not use military force to annex Canada, but that he will use economic force to create an economic union between the U.S. and Canada. - But, the United States did have a detailed plan for a military invasion of Canada in 1935 and today, near Watertown, New York, some 10 miles from the New York/Ontario border and some 50 or so miles from Ottawa sits a massive U.S. military installation, Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain Division of the U.S. Army. A rapid deployment military unit. The question is periodically asked "why is this military unit stationed in such proximity to the seat of Canada's national government?
Might the U.S. have plans to invade Canada under specific circumstances?
