The Toronto District School Board voted to end a program in which police officers were stationed in Toronto public schools, even though a majority of students and parents expressed a desire for the program to continue.

Constable John Davidson, a police officer in Abbotsford, B.C., was beloved by high school students whose schools he patrolled.

He was killed while on duty earlier this month and thousands of people attended a memorial in his honour.
