In Canada, freedom of expression is limited and argued to be under constant assault. The Supreme Court of Canada declared that Hate Speech is not protected by constitutionally enshrined Freedom of Expression.
David Butt reviewed federal law on hate speech and concluded that "Canada's law on hate speech is the embodiment of compromise," in a Globe and Mail Opinion Editorial.
