The Roy Green Show Podcast Mar17: Pierre Poilievre "axe the tax" & callers. - Don Edwards fmr Team Cda goalie. Parents' murderer paroled. - Listener's desperate email & IPSOS VP on Cdns financial desperation. - Tom Korski editor Blacklock's Reporter.

Today's Podcast "Axe the tax" Playback of our exclusive interview with Pierre Poilievre on his "axe the (carbon) tax" national election commitment - and separately Poilievre's reply to BC premier David Eby's claim that Poilievre's "axe the tax" messaging is from the CPC leader's "baloney factory." Keeping in mind the majority of Canada's premiers support Poilievre, including the only Liberal premier Dr. Andrew Furey of Newfoundland and Labrador. Guests: Pierre Poilievre (playback) Callers Just days after George Lovie, convicted first degree murderer of the parents of Don Edwards went AWOL while on day parole with an arrest warrant issued for Lovie, he was granted full parole by just two members of the National Parole Board. The parole board also declared the double murderer doesn't need to understand why he is a risk to others. Lovie has been on day parole since 2019, but has for a year-plus been allowed to spend five nights a week in his own apartment near Sudbury, Ontario. The Edwards family remains very much afraid of Lovie and during his being AWOL was warned by police to put their safeguarding practices into play. Guests: Don and Tannis Edwards. Public frustration with and opposition to the carbon tax continues to grow. We heard from CPC leader Pierre Poilievre on his 'axe the tax' national pre-election commitment yesterday and today, as well as BC premier David Eby characterizing Poilievre's challenge of the carbon tax as being from PP's "baloney factory." Listeners/callers have challenged the BC premier and an email sent by a Green Show listener to Trudeau, Freeland, Guilbeault and Singh, with Poilievre and me cc'd is brief, and describes the pain the carbon tax and misdirection by politicians who do not share the difficulties the average Canadian addresses daily continues to receive positive listener response. - As well, an IPSOS poll for RBC of last October details the distress Canadians, particularly younger adults, are experiences over money woes. A majority of these Canadians told IPSOS their personal relationships are impacted by financial stress and mental health has suffered as well. The Mental Health Commission of Canada previously affirmed unemployment and financial problems to be key risks for suicide and that when the economy turns down, depression and anxiety rise. Then, we take your calls. Does listener George's email represent your experience trying to stay financially afloat and do you support George's call for tax relief? Guests: Sean Simpson. VP. IPSOS Public Affairs. Tells us the situation has if anything only worsened since the poll last October. Callers This past week in Ottawa with the editor of Blacklock's Reporter. Guest: Tom Korski. The Roy Green Show Podcast Mar16: Pierre Poilievre CPC leader Cda's troubles under Trudeau. - Cptn Raymond Hall, Boeing troubles. - Prof Eric Kam economists concern for nat'l economy. - Fmr LPC MP Michelle Simson re coaching on breaking ethics rules.

Today's Podcast: Pierre Poilievre's "axe the (carbon) tax" national campaign continues and despite BC premier David Eby not joining the majority of Canada's premiers supporting either ending the carbon tax, or at least delaying the implementation of its April 1 scheduled increase and describing Poilievre's letter to the bc premier requesting his support for the "axe the tax" initiative as something from the Pierre Poilievre "baloney factory" the CPC leader, who national polling shows continues with his national campaign. We speak with Poilievre about carbon tax, national economy (bank economists expressing deep concern), crime and justice, immigration, Melanie Joly's photo with Mahmoud Abbas and more. As well, on Monday a federal NDP motion in parliament will have MPs voting on the NDP's call for Canada's support for the establishment of a State of Palestine, as well as an end to arm shipments from Canada to Israel. Guest: Pierre Poilievre. Leader: Conservative Party of Canada For years it is said that in the aviation industry the cliche was "if it's not Boeing, I'm not going." Now it's rumoured the cliche has become "if it's Boeing, I'm not going." Boeing's terrible record of producing safe airliners over the last years again earlier this year, as well as last week was highlighted through mishaps involving 737 Max aircraft including the door plug blowing out of an Alaska Airlines 737 Max in January, a 787 Max Dreamliner which plunged without warning injuring up to 50 passengers last week, also last week a tire falling off a Boeing 757 seconds after takeoff from San Francisco airport and the nose wheel of another Boeing 757 airliner broke away while it was taxiing toward takeoff at Atlanta International Airport in January. Boeing is under FAA investigation. Last Sunday I flew from Orlando to Toronto on a 737 Max 8 and it was an uneasy experience. What is going on with Boeing? Guest: Captain Raymond Hall. Former head of the Air Canada Pilots Association and multi-decade Air Canada captain who flew Boeing airliners on major international routes. G&M headline: More economists are getting deeply worried about Canada's future - and investors are taking notice. Earlier this month Scotiabank's head of capital markets economics Derek Holt wrote "I'm deeply worried about public policy in my country." Over last weekend BMO chief economist Doug Porter and National Bank strategist Stefane Marion joined the grim chorus. And the OECD projects Canada's economic performance this decade and through to 2060 will be dead last among advanced nations. Meanwhile, we have what the world needs and is willing to purchase, namely natural resources such as oil and natural gas. Guest: Professor Eric Kam. Macroeconomics, Toronto Metropolitan University. When it comes to ethics and ethical behaviour and the stunningly minor penalties for ethics violations for ignoring of ethics from the PM down to the occupants of the very back benches in parliament what is the story? A former Liberal MP shares with us that not only was there (for her) the demand of unethical behaviour, but as well there were in 2007 significant penalties if that demand was not adhered to by the MP. - As well, our guest's husband was present when coaching on violating ethics took place. Today's Podcast Utah state legislation likely to pass the state legislature within the next week-plus will require children under 18 to receive parental consent in order to log onto websites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Reddit, as well as fan fiction sitesd or similar online services. The same applies to all social media. A legal challenge has caused the legislation to be redrafted. Our guest has spoken with legislators in two dozen other U.S. states interested in similar legislation and not unlike the 'Protecting Young Persons from Exposure to Pornography Act' legislation under consideration in Canada which would require a user to verify his/her age before being able to access pornography websites. We speak with a state legislator prominent in creating the Utah law. Guest: Jordan Teuscher. Utah State Representative In October of 2023, the federal government removed the carbon tax from home heating oil for three years, a measure most beneficial to Atlantic Canadians. Justin Trudeau though has refused to provide a similar carbon tax carveout for Canadians heating their homes with natural gas or propane, used by the majority of residents in the prairie provinces. This week Saskatchewan's minister responsible for provincial energy utility announced the province will not remit the carbon levy on home heating fuels to Ottawa, understanding this may lead to fines and potentially prison time for executives of SaskEnergy. We speak with the premier of Saskatchewan. Guest: Scott Moe. Premier. Saskatchewan. This week Canadians found out at parliamentary ethics committee hearings that the RCMP never tried to interview Justin Trudeau as part of the SNC-Lavalin scandal probe. Democracy Watch continues to demand the RCMP Commissioner and a key RCMP officer reveal why it performed a weak "lapdog" Trudeau cabinet/SNC Lavalin investigation and why the RCMP is still hiding 2,200+ pages of investigation records in violation of the Access to Information Act. As well, why the RCMP's national command "rolled over and didn't prosecute anyone." Then parliamentary ethics commissioner Mario Dion convicted the prime minister of an ethics violation for interfering with federal Minister of Justice and Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould.
