Show Notes

Heavy wind storm in Ontario yesterday (gusts to 90kmh) raises question when do airline captains decide to fly or not fly given Canadian weather conditions. Do the big jets take off from and land at airports under extreme weather conditions? Ice, excessive water, wind, visibilty can be very problematic. Runway friction is key and carefully measured on a scale used by pilots. Last week a Flair Airlines Boeing 737 overran the runway at Kitchener-Waterloo airport in Ontario. - In 2005 the widely reported overrun of an Air France A340 landing in Toronto will be remembered.

We ask a multi-decade airline captain who provides detailed information for the flying public.

Guest: Captain Raymond Hall. Former Air Canada DC 9, Boeing 767 and Boeing 777 Captain and Chair of the Air Canada Pilots Association.
