Canada’s vulnerable homeless population is at risk during the bitterly cold winter months and quite often, their voices go unheard in the national conversation.

This winter a Cambridge, Ontario resident is travelling across Ontario and living outdoors in 13 different cities across the province. It’s called the “90 Days & Nights in the Cold” campaign and its aim is to open people’s eyes to the plight of the homeless. Our guest Paul Tavares, spearheaded the “90 Days & Nights in the Cold” campaign, has been homeless twice in his life and gave up a secure union job to take on this campaign.

How easy is it for the average Canadian to become homeless? According to IPSOS polling, 46% of Canadians are just $200 away from being bankrupt. Darrell Bricker, President and CEO IPSOS, elaborates on these numbers and what it all means.

‘Helping Hamilton Homeless’ is a small group of community activists personally engaged to provide relief, warm clothing, food and support for the homeless in Hamilton. There are caring groups like this that exist in communities across Canada. Roy talks with the group's founder, Sharon Williamson, and her fellow board member Natasha Willis
