Canadian health care. Wait times are disturbingly and some argue dangerously long. Months and even a year or longer to book an appointment with some specialists. A contributor to this program and former President/CEO of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business has tweeted about the lack of proper an timely care she is experiencing for a shoulder issue.
And...
For years now Dr. Brian Day of Vancouver and of the Cambie Surgery Centre, described as 'Canada's only free-standing hospital of its kind' has been engaged in a lawsuit which challenges B.C. regulations banning private care for services that are medically necessary. Cambie provides such services (surgery) and patients pay privately instead of waiting for the public system to reach them. Dr. Day argues Canadians, other than just Quebecers, should have the right to purchase private insurance and choose where we go for our health care/treatments.
Bill C-450, introduced by Dr. Kellie Leitch would change much of the current reality.
