Show Notes
September 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day. Extremely concerning information. Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) survey of April of this year shows 18% of Ontario students have seriously contemplated suicide in the past 12 months, 59% report being depressed and 39% say their mental health is worse. As the new school year is about to begin, we address these findings which although based on Ontario teens views may well reflect a similar national perspective.
Guest: Mark Henick. Attempted suicide at 15. TED Talk video of his accounting of the suicide attempt and being saved by a complete stranger has been viewed millions of times online. National spokesperson for the Canada-wide Faces of Mental Illness campaign for the Canadian Mental Health Association. Book/podcast: So-called Normal. CEO of Strategic Mental health Consulting.
