I am very familiar with the horror that lurks in the darkness, Mr. Slayton. I was content to run from it once again, but now, given what happened with my son and his friends, it does not seem like running is an option anymore. I will not go quietly, and while others might dismiss your… vision, I appreciate the intent. You need more, though. You’re talented, but your vision is too small. That is not a slight, you just don’t know how big a level to work on. Monsters are well and good, Mr. Slayton, but it takes far more than a monster to kill a god.This week, the team begins to gather information for their next mission. Sights are staked out, files are reviewed, and meetings with your parents never get less awkward.

Hello. My name is Stanton Slayton. Though, I imagine that if you brought me here, you already know that. You’ve read about me in the papers, I’m sure. About the brilliant engineer who was driven to the edge by his work and became a monster. You see it now, though. The darkness falling on this world. Other planes spilling into ours. The city tearing at the seams. That pressure in the back of your head telling you to fear the night. And, now, you come to me because you’ve finally realized there are worse things in the dark than monsters.Makers are met and old friends are visited as the team begins to ramp up for their next mission. One team member dives into their past, but sometimes the past needs to remain forgotten.

Look, I’m just gonna come out and say it. Otto’s lost their vision. The people who pull the strings are at their weakest, and we’re what? Being errand runners for a soup kitchen? I mean, it’s not like these people don���t need help, but we’re, at best, acting as a bandage. At worst, we’re hurting these people further by not seizing the reigns. If this was Otto a year ago, we would be running the city and actually helping, but now...We’re all thinking it. It’s Corra. She’s a great person and has a big heart, but that is not what the city needs. It’s not what Otto needs.This week, the team does their best to provide for their section of the city as their resources dwindle. Also, a pair of couples have some heart-to-heart talks, as well as a caper revealed.

You couldn’t protect him forever, Elizabet. Like I said, he was bound to put it together. I know you had a soft spot for him. What? You think I didn’t see you pulling punches with him and his friends? I know it’s not the first time. Little moments when your better self comes up for air. With those new Keeper recruits, what, forty years ago? More recently with that whole apartment complex thing you and the elf helped out with. You’ve been using kids gloves with him, but remember, it’s all just ephemeral. It will all go away soon enough, and you will have the peace you’ve wanted for so long. Now, be quick. This will burn up quicker than you think it will.This week ties are severed as some members of the group turn in their proverbial pink slips. Some other forces are waiting in the wings though, waiting to see the fallout.

I’m torn, Dawn Father. I didn’t know my connection to Tessa would be like this. Her feelings are bleeding over onto my mine. It’s almost like I never died. I keep thinking back to before. Before the world started falling apart. Before we all had to give up so much of ourselves. Before Ioun... Well, just before the war in general. I know that bad things are coming, but I can’t help but want her to not have to deal with it all. All of the loss and the pain that we had to endure. It just makes me want to go back to before we put up the veil I just wish we could go back before the bad. Back when we were happy.The team recovers from their grueling time at the Keeper’s HQ. While some of the team does their best to relax, others decide they need a conversation with their boss.

The scene fades in. Ai, Otto, and Wyatt all stand in front of the interns and those that had been rescued. They have just been informed that the team did not come back with those rescued, and you can see the information washing over the trio in their faces. “What do you mean they ain’t coming back?” Ai’s eyes bore into Enna. “Y’all just left them there?” Her expression quickly softens, turning to panic. “What…What am I gonna do, if she doesn’t come back?” Ai’s eyes are wise, darting around as though she is looking for an answer. “I ain't… I ain’t got nobody else but my momma and... I can’t deal with losin’ someone again. Not like this. What am I gonna do, Otto? What am I gonna do?” Otto moves around her, looking her dead in the eyes with a stony expression. “We’re not losing anyone. I promise you, we will get them back. Corra, Tessa, all of them. I don’t care what we have to do, or who we have to kill.” They glance up and over toward River, who is standing, looking just as shocked. “River, get all hands on deck. Tell them we’re going to war.”The battle at the Keeper’s HQ rages on. Things begin to spiral out of control as combat heats up. In the middle of the fray, someone comes to make a request.

I had a long talk with Newton yesterday. He and I framed it like a visit to the storage facility. It’s pretty much the only place we can get away from her and Lincoln. I wanted to see if he felt the same way I did. Newton and I usually can see the same writing on the wall. She’s getting desperate and sloppy. She’s narrowing her focus and losing sight of the big picture. I’ve told her before, these are all feints trying to get her to make a mistake and she has. Newton agrees with me. While if the choice is between her and nothing, she wins out, but maybe it is time to find a different solution. Maybe extend an olive branch.The team comes face to face with a foe from their past, but a new, more dangerous foe makes their presence known.

All available units, I repeat, all available units, disturbance reported at the indeliophan. Multiple casualties reported. Students being evacuated. We have reports that Tessa Blackmoore is on the scene. Proceed with caution. Unknown number casualties at scene, conflict still in progress. I repeat, proceed with caution. Establish a perimeter and mobilize all available automated security units. Stay sharp and stay safe. We don’t know what this group is capable of or if they are injured. Do not engage alone. They’ll be desperate for escape. They’ll be more dangerous than ever.The team makes their way into the belly of Keepers HQ. While they are searching from their friend they find something that may tempt them like never before.

R&D Memo to Glittering Oath Board of Directors. Highly confidential. Burn after reading. Our efforts to continue reverse engineering the main sample have been less than fruitful. While our initial results were promising, we cannot crack the secret behind this independence displayed in the sample. Our newest line can perform more detailed tasks, but still require both supervision and a handler in the vicinity. With their current limitations, we will not be able to fulfill the goals of both the keepers and the city guard to restore order to the east end of the city. We cannot push the sample any harder, as of right now. It is at its limit, and we may lose it altogether. There is a gap here, between the schematics and the sample. We may have to bring Vancroft in for the automated personnel units to progress how we want. This week the team prepares to infiltrate the Keeper’s headquarters to rescue Kravitz. They gather information, scope out the joint, and maybe, just maybe, mend some fences.

Observation notes on the Glittering Oath Automatons by Wyatt Vancroft. It feels so weird to see these things walking around. They’ve overbuilt the frame, which makes sense because their new use. It also seems they aren’t as independent as I was planning on making them. They always seems to have a handler not too far away. I wonder if that is by design, or if they hit the same hurdles I did? They move terribly. I mean, really they only seem one step removed from my prototype. I wonder if they have it? I thought Stanton took it that night, but he never mentioned it. It was never recovered with his assets, and it seems to me, they got these to market way faster than they should have.The team rushes back to the club after their fight with Ash to Ash. Everyone is shaken, and while some fall back on relationships, others lose themselves trying to relax.

I can't say that I will miss having this boy in my service but it does put me out a bit of a disadvantage. I now can only observe what is on my side of this tear. It seems like a wound that pierces through every plane of existence in this reality and I know that those elves brought the implement that made the cut but I am beginning to think they are not the virus that caused the infection. It's something darker. I can see it killing the forest where the city stands. Red streaks pouring from it, hot to the touch. It seems like the infection is done festering and is now ready to spread. The Ash to Ash group has has come to rumble, but while the team engages in the fight, are they taking their eyes off the real prize?

Heard you’re on prisoner transport next week. That’s a weird shift. You done it before? I’ve been on it a few times. They don’t tell you the spot until you get to the depot, and if you have to take them to campus, that’s a whole other can of worms. You only ever make it to the gate. Then, they come and trade transports with you. Don’t talk to the prisoners, either. That priest, the demon one, he’s a chatterbox, but whoever it is they have running this op is a real hard ass. Oh, also… Did you hear that? Hey, hey, you kids get back here!As the team recovers from their last mission, relationships are strengthened and tested. Some have meetings with their boss, some get crafty, and some try to chill things out.

This needs to be perfect, people, so we’re reviewing again. I don’t want to hear it. Okay, so we do this hard and we do it fast and we do it clean. June needs this to be perfect, and if we’re made, we’re coming home, you got that? So no faces, no names, no talking. It needs to look like a hit; that we’re there for both of them. I know some of you have personal feelings about this. I’m not a huge fan, either. We all love Corra, but Otto hasn’t been the same since she joined. Their goals changed, and if we’re to bring June’s vision, our vision, of the world into reality, we need the old Otto. Be fast. Be clean. No reason for it to be any worse than it has to be. Ok, suit up, we roll in five.A bell tolls for Otto and Corra on a very special night, but forces conspire against them. It’s gonna be a night to remember, but will the memories be worth remembering or a sad reminder of what could have been?

The remembered feeling of the sword entering her chest shocked her awake. Looking hard at her hand forced the static away from the outline of her form. How long had she been here? Weeks and days, moments and millinea all seemed to occupy the same space here. It was an existence that she could hardly comprehend and one she fought against. At the edges of the space she had carved out for herself, she could feel him watching. “I know you’re there. You think this place can change me? I change it. They are coming for me. You can’t make me forget that. He’s going to get me. He promised.”Visions from the past surround the group as they descend further and further into the illusory world. Who’s behind this, and why are they leading the group to them?

It’s good to see that we are starting to get bleed over. I hope the others coming from home don’t find the restrictions of this place to egregious. Little by little, we are tipping the scale to a point she can’t compensate. The nexus keeps feeding chaos into the rift, and she is grasping at straws to try and hold it closed. I keep thinking, Elizabet, how wonderful it will feel to shake off the restriction of the material here and see what new thing replaces it when my God awakens. She brought it with her, the limits on the unimaginable. The others were too detached to notice, but it chewed at me like an infection. The moment when it is cleansed from me can not come soon enough.The team goes to the Dream Den to figure out what is affecting it and the surrounding area. Last time, their deepest fears were made real, so it can’t get worse than that, right?

It looks like Stanton’s experiments were more successful than we thought. He didn’t just make monsters, though, and it seems that Zero is playing nice with the others. Though, I have to admit, her closeness with Blackmoor is concerning, and I still think we need to get rid of her. I know you like to dangle her in the Mother’s face, but frankly, she seems like more trouble than she’s worth. Zero, though? Yeah, Zero has a lot of potential. Her powers are progressing quickly. I do wonder how long she can keep the side effects of that under control. I think it will be very, very interesting when she finally gets a… taste. She doesn’t know what it is, yet, but she’s determined to find out. Frankly, I don’t know how long I can keep her from it. This week, the team takes some time for themselves. Some try to relax. Others start in on work that needs to be done. Some look for answers, worried what might be found

A coded memo from the desk of Newton Zemke, Public Relations for The Keepers of the Veil: Benjamin, I understand your frustrations, and in many cases, share them. But your orders are your orders. I don’t see anyone with a better sense of presence, and I need you in the quarantine zone. You are our face, right now, and we need people to know we are working to return their lives to normal. We’ve done our best to keep the city guard out, taking resources from them to present a strong front. I can give you what you need, but I need you there. I’d be there myself, but the ruling council seems to think my skills are better suited here, at the Indeliophan, despite my own misgivings about that.You’d think fighting a monster from outside of reality would be the worst thing you have to do with your day, but as the team explores the temple, things get... well... worse.

I know you don’t agree Elizbet, but this has to happen. With what will be coming through, this is our best chance to see what he’ll do. Here we can control the circumstances, like any good experiment. We need to know what our boy will do when he comes face to face with the truth. This will be small. Something we can handle if he decides he’s no longer liking the deal. It will be on you to convince him otherwise Elizbet. You’ve done a wonderful job of keeping him focused. Keeping him working and keeping him and his group isolated at this most crucial time. They have such potential to sow discord, it would be a shame if we let them undo that.As threats in the sewers push in from all sides, the team has to put aside differences to make it out. Also, Corra hears a tune, Seshmire gets pulled along, and Tseer meets an old friend.

I don’t care what she says. The current strategy of letting those damn metal whatevers and the cops take over the protection of the city, while we try and take back eastside, is not going to work. I mean, have you looked outside, Lashell? This is worse than when we succeeded. Between that and loosing boots on the ground to trying to find this temple, or whatever she thinks it is, we are losing our grip on what is important. Hell, that isn’t even taking into account whatever is cause these Feywild portals. I know we are in a shit place here, Lashell, and it’s not like we can talk to Lincoln about it. I just don’t want to watch the world crumble while we chase phantoms.The team dives under the city to try and find a threat left over from the latest Feywild bubble. The monsters, though, may not be the biggest threat to the team.

It’s been so long since the world felt like this: balanced on the edge or maybe even already falling. Last time, they did what they thought necessary. They left me… lost. I don’t blame them for that. They had no choice, but they forgot me, after. They let me be forgotten. I barely held on to the barest idea of myself, while they let my name fade. Now, I’ll save the world, again, and teach it the memories it lost.The weight of the outside world begins to press down. The team faces threats, both mortal and fantastical. This is impressive, since they are doing their best not to talk to each other.

Been a while since the world felt like this. Like it’s edge just teetering there. Last time we all stepped up, cause we was the one who could, the ones that had to. Now we can’t help, not like we want to, and have to put our faith in mortals. Hope that them few folks that we picked can shoulder the burden and weather storm, cause a hell of a storm is coming and when it passes I’m afraid of what will be left behind.New players enter the game. While the crowds seem to be centered in front of the offices of Elder Tower, different pockets have been springing up across the city as the night wears on. One moment, one moment, really? Yes, ok, I am getting reports that the the head of Elder Tower as well as all of the Guild’s senior officials have been found murdered. Killed in a...What do you ,mean? We can’t shut down, I’m in the middle of a report. How is anyone supposed to know that….Sometimes, when something is too broken, you simply have to scrap it and start fresh, no matter the cost.

But all I needed was a handful of people and to put a crack in the foundation for them to hit.The team has fought through kidnappings, monsters, schemes, and doppelgangers. Now, they are finishing the fight with Stanton Slayton, but can they hold it together?

The end that the rock told about is coming. I can feel in my bones. A feeling clawing at the back of my brain getting stronger everyday. I need to work harder. I have to push further. I have pulled apart people and creatures and turned them into weapons, but even my most successful experiment isn’t ready! It needs more field testing to… What am I gonna do? I’ve burned every bridge. I’ve pushed everyone away. The things, the things I’ve done to save this world are… I had to do them. No one else was strong enough to, but are not gonna win this fight and it was all that I had left. So what are we gonna do now? What am I gonna do?This week the team prepare for their showdown with Stanton. Emotions run high as couples come together, plans are made and Tseer overhears a conversation.

Sometimes, the good fight is too much of a fight. No matter the cause, the struggle of doing what needs to be done weighs on some folks, and there ain't no shame in bowing out sometimes.This week: Tessa and Ai visit someone very special, Seshmir has a meeting with his boss, Tseer and Corra go shopping for trucks, and Orran comes to a big decision.

I shouldn’t be talking to you. Hell, you probably won’t even open this message. It’s whatever. I feel like I need to at least try. I mean, you probably hate me, anyways, or you’re disappointed in me. I don’t know which one hurts more. I miss asking you for advice. I met a guy. I think you’d like him... or you would have. We’ve, uh, been spending a lot of time together. He’s great, but I don’t know about me. I can’t help but think of when you talked me out of that situation with Love. You told me what I needed to hear, not what I wanted. I think about how you always did that for me. I tried to do it for you, but maybe, I wasn’t loud enough to get over the voice, the one I put there. I miss you, Stanton. I’m gonna miss you. I’m sorry for a lot of things as of late, but I am especially sorry for not being strong enough to deal with that damn rock myself.The week, the team has a very nice spaghetti dinner with all their guests, Corra and Otto review some ledgers, and Tseer and his new boyfriend go on a little adventure.

I couldn’t sleep through the night again. The same dream. I know it’s terrifying, but I hate how I can never remember details. The few notes I’ve made I don’t remember writing. Horrors I describe with words I don’t understand. Something breaking through. Something bringing it. Everytime I wake up I see that damn crystal, glowing and bathing me in red light. I can hear it whispering. Telling me I’m the only one strong enough to save the world. How it knew Wyatt wasn’t strong enough. It never told him what was coming. I hope it’s right. What I’ve done...No. It is right. We need something more if we are to survive this horror, and if I have to make horrors to save this world I will. No regrets. Regrets are for the weak. This week Seshmir has brunch with a friend and gets caught up on current events. We learn what you do when on tour with The Dead, Orran has a crisis of faith and Tessa is just a normal high schooler fellow children.

How easy is it to repair cracks when they threaten the very foundation of the thing you've worked so hard to build? Is it worth it to fix things, or just let it all crumble away?This week, well, there's drama. Tseer brings home someone who has recently grown very close to him, and the team expresses some serious concern. Also, Corra and Otto are the cutest drunks.

The hardest person you are ever going to have to forgive is yourself. It's so easy to play back in your mind all of the shouldas and the couldas, and so hard to see the here and now.This week Seshmir has a nice chat with Jenkins. Tessa does a bit of amatuer wrestling, and Corra and Tseer have delightful brunch.

They tell me you are doing well. Your last testing exercise seems to have earned high marks. Some abnormalities though. I wonder where the, uh, blood drinking is coming from. COuld be some left over survival instinct maybe? Hard to tell, between all the things mixed inside of you and the conditioning. Oh well, your power seem to be developing well. Trigger word worked as expected. Good. We’ll need this for what coming. Wyatt said I was making monsters. He doesn't realize does he? What’s coming is beyond monstrous. And when it get here you, test subject zero, are going to help me fight it.This week, two lovers return from a short vacation and the team gets a few visits from their bosses. Also, so cute cuddling, and Ornette Coleman shout out and Seshmire decides to get in better shape.

I needed something from this pair. Something more than just power and connection. I needed an insurance policy. To make sure that they held up their end of our bargain. I needed it form them both. I could see it, in they way they moved, how they looked at each other, there was a connection and having just one of them was not going to be enough to fulfill my goals. I needed the thing they were guarding the most. The thing that they were keeping from one another. That thing so precious that it had to be held at a distance and closed off from everyone. If this was going to work, I would need their hearts. Metaphorically of coarse.Lost and with just each other, our two boys search for a way out, and maybe, just maybe, something in each other.

I was not terribly...impressed when these boys were brought before me. Two lost souls from the material plane. How could they aid me in healing my home, especially when one of them carried the blood of the invaders that brought this infection to my my door.How could these two motrals help me more than the agent I already had in their world. I mean, yes, they had been adrift in the feywild for who know how long before they found themselves in my presence, but there was something about them. Some sort of...bond. I knew, when I looked them, deep into them, that they would complicate matters.A very unlikely pair are forced together and put in a situation where they must lean onto one another to survive. In such a harsh world, and with so much hurt between them, can they survive?

The easiest person in the the world to hate is yourself. Before you know it you fall down that hole of self doubt. Of Second guessing, and best you can do get you some people to pull you out.Drama abounds as the gang settle down from their wild day. Seshmire, and Tessa have a fun meeting with a friend. Tseer and Otto hit the club. Orran tends to the guests and Corra and Otto have a heart to heart.

A fight ain't hardly a place for love. You can get distracted, get it used against you. If you can focus on it, though, you can find something bigger than yourself to carry you through anything.With Corra down, the team scrambles to put an end to the fight. Many of the group must face diffucult choices and and when push comes to shove, some them might make the wrong call. We also get new friends, old conflicts and a surprise call.

All the players are moving into place. We can't stop it now. As much as we hate to admit it, this is bigger than us. All that we can do is sit back and hope our faith in y'all is enough.The fight with the assassin kicks off as the building burns around the team. As things escalate quickly, one of the members of the team will face a grime prospect. Also, rat friends are made and we learn why you don't put the teens on guard duty.

In this world, the unexpected is all you got to rely on. You got to know, that no matter what, you are gonna jump the track and find yourself in that all to familiar unfamiliar territory.This week the team finally put into motion their plan to hit back at Stanton. They also off load a bunch of extra stuff and support their friend in his performance.

Plans are our way of making sense of a world that just ain't. A way of enacting some kinda control.
