Warning Against Idleness
Sometimes the greatest dangers facing the Church today do not come from people outside the church, but rather from those inside the church. Paul explains that the greatest threat to the Church at Thessalonica was the spiritual carelessness of some of the believers. Christians have an obligation to hold one another accountable to the faith and to the standard of God’s Word.

DISCUSS:
• Based on your understanding of 1 + 2 Thessalonians, what do you think was the sin of the “irresponsible” Christians?
• How did Paul, Silas and Timothy demonstrate a strong work ethic to the Thessalonians? What are some biblical reasons Christians should be excellent workers at any job they have?
• Describe as situation in which the behavior of others might make you “grow weary of doing good.” What can you do to remain faithful and not grow weary?
• What is the ultimate purpose of church discipline? What happens if a church fails at practicing church discipline?
• Do you believe God has given us everything we need to be faithful to the life and calling He has given us? Why or why not?
PRAY: Pray that you will always cling to a living hope in Jesus Christ.
RESPOND: Identify any “laziness” in your spiritual life. Determine how you can be intentional to bring purpose back into that area.
