Exhaust #66: The Case for Team USA
ETeam USA holds an annual press conference before the final round of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross, and honestly, it's usually pretty boring. The team talks about expecting and wanting to win, but after last year's not-even-on-the-podium performance on home soil at RedBud, it's clear just saying it doesn't equate to winning it. This year, Team USA faces a really steep challenge, with European sand and a home track for what's shaping up to be the strongest team at the event, Holland. However, by listening closely to this year's press conference, you can decode certain facts that can improve Team USA's chances. They might be underdogs, but this also might work to their advantage. Jason Weigandt hosts both the press conference and this podcast, offering some analysis of why what Team USA is saying might just improve their chances of winning. The Racer X Exhaust Podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #65: Perspective and the Party with AC
EA 250 championship is usually followed with thoughts of how the young champ will perform in the big-bike class. Adam Cianciarulo's 250 National Motocross Championship is different. This is a moment that is frozen in time because of the journey it took Adam—and his team—to get there. In this episode of the Racer X Exhaust Podcast, Jason Weigandt recaps the day at the Ironman National and logs some interviews during the actual post-race championship party for Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki, including chats with Adam, his coach Nick Wey, team owner Mitch Payton, and even Cole Seely, who stopped by to talk retirement and congratulate his friend. Most of all, this all provides a little perspective on a rider who has more perspective on himself than most. The Racer X Exhaust Podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #64: How Racing Works (with AJ Allmendinger)
EIs there too much money in motocross? Well, it's more expensive than it once was but it's nothing compared to car racing, which literally requires seven figure commitments from families or sponsors to advance even a talented driver to the highest levels. Jason Weigandt sits down with his fellow American Flat Track series broadcaster AJ Allmendinger--a race winner in IndyCar, NASCAR Cup and sports car racing, and one of the most dynamic personalities in the sport--to compare and contrast motorcycle racing and car racing. It's a fascinating look into the economics, schedules, technology and pressure of racing at all levels. Weege says this is one of his favorite podcasts ever! The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #63: Visual Learning with Ryan Sipes
ETime for our annual check-in with Ryan Sipes, now in year two of his do-it-all program racing supercross, motocross, off-road, flat track, and more. This year Sipes has already notched wins at the Hawaiian Supercross, the Sturgis TT round of American Flat Track, and even some sort of hillclimb, which he explains here. He also has a new video series via Red Bull that follows his journey. And what a journey it is, considering Sipes not only tries and succeeds at these events but builds his own bikes as well. Oh, and then there's the Erzburgrodeo, which is an entirely different story. In this podcast with Jason Weigandt, Sipes explains how he tries to learn and pick up the process of each racing discipline, and then how he applies it in practice and on race day. Who knows? He might not be the only one doing this someday. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #62: Next Big Things (from Loretta Lynn's)
EThe dizzying array of classes and ages makes it tough to understand what happens at the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn's, but Jason Weigandt cracks the code in this episode of The Racer X Exhaust Podcast. You'll hear his conversations with Jalek Swoll and Jett Lawrence, who are set to race pro at Unadilla this weekend, and also get some insight into their styles and personalities. Also, who are the biggest stars further out on the horizon? Familiar last names Vohland and Deegan are making their way to the front. The Racer X Exhaust Podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #61: Austin Forkner
EAustin Forkner was aces in the races in this year's 250SX East Region Championship, but his daytime qualifying sessions were dotted with big crashes—and one finally bit him in Nashville. A torn ACL ended his title hopes, but not before a desperation attempt to salvage his season in New Jersey. In this edition of The Racer X Exhaust Podcast, Jason Weigandt sits down with Forkner to discuss the season, the crash, the night in New Jersey, his progression as a pro, his start in racing, and more. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #60: Savage Recovery (with Blake Savage)
EIn January, Blake Savage crashed while riding with Ken Roczen and suffered an immediate loss of feeling and movement. We checked in with him in March and found him making huge strides, and he continues to do so today. Savage works with both Roczen and Chase Sexton, who are working on a different kind of recovery after a rough stretch of three races in Lucas Oil Pro Motocross. Savage talks to Jason Weigandt to provide an update on himself and his riders in this edition of the Racer X Exhaust Podcast. The Racer X Exhaust Podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #59: Training Day (with Jacob Hayes and Seth Rarick)
EYou want to make it in the sport of motocross and supercross? It's not easy. Jacob Hayes is a multi-time AMA Amateur National Champion at Loretta Lynn Ranch and the 2018 AMSOIL Arenacross Champion. But Arenacross is gone, and Hayes is trying to make the grade in the world's biggest series, grabbing top-fives in stadiums and top-tens outdoors. The CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha rider doesn't know what's in store for next year yet—he's just grinding away every day in North Carolina with his trainer, Seth Rarick, at his side. These boys put in work, but so does everyone else on the line. Jason Weigandt jumps in with Rarick and Hayes for a drive to the practice track and some bench racing between motos. It's an interesting listen about life in the trenches during the week. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #58: Jordan Bailey Talks to Everyone
EJordan Bailey isn't a household name at the pro level yet, but the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider is quite a character behind the scenes. At Southwick, Jason Weigandt turned a recorder on and fired questions at the talkative 19-year-old, and soon Jordan drew the likes of team owner Bobby Hewitt, best buddy Chase Sexton, and teammate Zach Osborne into the chat. You'd be surprised how fun and friendly the riders are with each other the day before a race. Hey, it's just like you bench racing with your buds, only at the professional level. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #57: Cole Seely
ECole Seely can say he's done one thing on a supercross track no one else has: ridden with a license plate. He might have connections at factory Honda HRC, but he built his dual sport CRF450L himself, and then got a surprise when he saw how capable the bike was when blitzing whoops and scrubbing jumps at the test track. But Seely has always done things his way, and his off-track interests make him much different than most of his peers. In the serious business on the track, though, he's just trying to match himself. After massive, career-threatening injuries in 2018, Cole admits he's not back to his old form, and he's had to adjust his own standards as he continues the rebuilding process. Can he get back to his old racing self? He reveals quite a bit in this interview with Jason Weigandt. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #56: Let's Talk Stew
EHe's finally done. He finally said it. James Stewart is retired. Yeah, you already knew he was done, but with his retirement official, we can begin the real reviews of James Stewart's career. Here comes a conversation with Racer X Online editors Jason Weigandt and Chase Stallo, discussing the timing and execution of Stewart's announcement (Fridays at 5 pm?), how difficult life at the top of the sport must be (and yet how difficult it must be to leave that behind), and how Stewart will shine much brighter under history's light. Lots to unpack here, so let's get to it! The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Main Event Moto - Ep #119 - 3rd Annual Hangtown Call From The Cave
EIt's the "Main Event Moto 3rd Annual Hangtown Call From The Cave". They drink a lot of beer, watch the races, and try to keep it together. This year Daniel Blair and Producer Joe are joined in the batcave by 2008 Canadian Motocross Champion Eric Nye and by 4 time X Games gold medalist Mike Mason. Exhaust #54: The Second Act w/ Daniel Blair
EFormer professional SX/MX/AX racer Daniel Blair has found his calling in motocross media, partly because of the lessons learned from racing—and not just expert analysis. In this hourlong chat with Jason Weigandt, Blair laments not working harder in his twenties to improve his results and explains why that has motivated him to try harder than ever with his current jobs. Today, Blair hosts Race Day Live, the Monster Energy Supercross pre-race and qualifying show, and is sideline reporter for NBCSN's supercross TV broadcasts. He also hosts his own weekly podcast, Main Event Moto, which moves under the Racer X Podcast Network umbrella next week. Be sure to subscribe to the network to get the latest from Blair (and Weege and much more). The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #53: Joey Savatgy, Part 2
EJoey Savatgy is not sure what to do. In today's social media age, he knows fans wants more transparency and honesty, but if he says too much, he'll be labeled a complainer. In part two of this Exhaust podcast with Jason Weigandt, Joey talks about getting heat for falling in front of Ken Roczen in Nashville, the reaction from fans when he signed with Monster Energy Kawasaki, and what went down at the Monster Energy Cup, where he moved over for new teammate Eli Tomac. It's been a good season for Savatgy on the racetrack, and he's also working hard on fixing his reputation off of it. Have a listen here to get his thoughts on the process. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #52: Joey Savatgy, Part 1
EWhen Monster Energy Kawasaki announced that Joey Savatgy would take a factory 450 slot for 2019, fans voiced their complaints. This was puzzling, because while Savatgy had come up short of 250 titles in heartbreaking fashion, he was at least a proven race winner. Why did the fans spin so negative? In Part 1 of this interview, Jason Weigandt asks about his rookie 450SX season—which has been good enough to quiet his detractors—but also about Joey's persona and personality. Joey's been through some battles, but he tries to keep his feelings to himself and take the high road, which was fine before the days of social media but leaves people wanting more in an age of transparency. Joey understands that, but he's also staying true to himself. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #51: Cianciarulo and Wey
EJason Weigandt cornered Adam Cianciarulo and his coach Nick Wey for an in-depth conversation inside the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki truck. Adam has made great strides this season as he battles for the 250SX West Region Championship, and he gives Wey, a longtime pro racer with plenty of podiums on his résumé, credit for a lot of it. But what do they work on? Weigandt pressed for specifics and learned about Adam managing the emotions of racing, how Wey presses his buttons—and then even Mitch Payton gets in on the conversation, comparing the modern racer to the days when Wey was a racer himself. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.
2019 Nashville Supercross Press Conference
EPost-race interviews from the Nashville Supercross: 250SX Justin Cooper, Chase Sexton, Martin Davalos 450SX Cooper Webb, Blake Baggett, Eli Tomac

Exhaust #50: The Million-to-One Shot with Brett Smith and Davey Coombs
EJason Weigandt chats with author Brett Smith about the most expensive photo in motocross history—the million-to-one Ricky Carmichael shot, taken from the stands, that led to an Oakley billboard in Los Angeles—a rare boost of mainstream exposure. Smith penned the story for the latest issue of Racer X Illustrated—"One Hit Wonder," which you can read right now at digital.racerxonline.com—and joins Weigandt for a chat about the process of tracking down a story no one understood in full. Even the photographer himself had no idea how his photo ended up becoming part of a famous Oakley ad campaign! Later, Weigandt also chats with Davey Coombs about the story he wrote in our new issue, "Waiting for Answers," which you can read right now at digital.racerxonline.com. In the article, DC gives the latest update on Broc Tickle's WADA anti-doping case. Coombs talks about the latest developments with the AMA, FIM, WADA, drug testing in the sport, and what he thinks is coming next. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #49: Strategy and Science with David Vuillemin and Johan Thiel
EDavid Vuillemin captured premier-class supercross race wins while battling some of the best ever—he's one of the few who can claim to have beaten both Jeremy McGrath and Ricky Carmichael for a victory—and these days works with fellow Frenchmen Marvin Musquin and Dylan Ferrandis. His influence was felt on Saturday, when both riders took the 450SX and 250SX victories in Seattle. Vuillemin is one of the most outspoken and unfiltered characters in the sport. In this podcast, recorded during the Seattle post-race press conference, he shares his thoughts on many topics, such as Chad Reed still being the best in the whoops and how starts don't matter as much as people say. DV doesn't focus on the mental game, the hype, or the gossip: he looks at the riding. The riding is what matters. There's some similar no-nonsense work going on in the helmet game these days, as a focus on concussions has led many helmet companies to make huge improvements. Many brands use MIPS to improve the safety of their helmets. What's the science behind it? Company CEO Johan Thiel comes on to discuss. The Racer X Exhaust Podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #48: Paralysis, and the Road Back
EIt was news both tragic and shocking: in January, former pro racer Blake Savage went riding with his brother-in-law, Ken Roczen. He crashed and broke the C5, C6, and C7 vertebrae in his neck, leaving him with limited feeling and movement. Over the last two months, Blake—who is the trainer for Roczen, Chase Sexton, Cole Seely, and Christian Craig—has fought hard to regain some movement and feeling, but his battle will continue as he attempts to walk again. What's the experience like? Jason Weigandt chatted with Blake about the process for this podcast, and Blake got raw with the emotional highs and lows, the work, and his hopes for the future. Blake had his own insurance at the time of the injury, but few policies can stand up to the huge medical costs associated with this injury. You can visit Road2Recovery.com to donate to Blake's cause—the more therapy he can do, the better his chances. For now, Blake keeps working, while also continuing to provide training advice to his riders. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.
2019 Atlanta Supercross Press Conference
EPost-race interviews from the Atlanta Supercross: 250SX Austin Forkner, Dylan Ferrandis, Adam Cianciarulo 450SX (09:17) Marvin Musquin, Blake Baggett, Cooper Webb

Exhaust #47: Mid-Season Review
EIt's the season we all dream of: a competitive, unpredictable tilt with surprise winners and contenders, comeback stories, and more. The 2019 season of Monster Energy Supercross (which will somehow be halfway over halfway through this weekend's main event in Atlanta) is worthy of some epic bench racing, so Jason Weigandt sat down to talk about it. With himself! Here's 40-some minutes of thoughts on Webb, Roczen, Marvin, Tomac, 250 East/West, and more, as a special bonus episode of the Racer X Exhaust Podcast. The Racer X Exhaust Podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Exhaust #46: Flat Track Rising
EMichael Lock, CEO of AMA Pro Racing, is a fascinating interview in his own right, but talking about American Flat Track's recent resurgence makes for an even more compelling show. Lock doesn't fear bold moves, and some major changes in AFT have moved the needle. Why? How? Lock explains it here as the 2019 AFT season opener looms in Daytona on March 14. Plus, this podcast gives a look inside the general motorcycle market, well beyond the racetrack. It's a great talk with one of the most well-spoken insiders in the industry. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.
2019 Detroit Supercross Press Conference
EPost-race interviews from the Detroit Supercross: 250SX Chase Sexton, Jordon Smith, and Austin Forkner 450SX Chad Reed, Cooper Webb, and Eli Tomac
