S1 Ep 14S1 EP14 with Bronson

In this week's episode, we're talking to Joanna about her Pug BronsonWe always love hearing the stories behind our guests' names, and Joanna didn't disappoint. Now you could be excused from assuming that Bronson got his name from the devilishly handsome actor "Charles Bronson" because Bronson is a handsome devil himself, but that’s not actually the case. How Jo came to deciding on Bronson's name is a little outside of the norm even for a Pug Pawrent. We're also very happy to know that Bronson is still with us after a trip to the beach that almost ended in disaster - I am amazed that Jo was able to drive and cry and talk to her sister who was holding Bronson all at the same time knowing that Bronson could be dying. I still get chills down my spine thinking about what happened and is definitely a tale worth hearing if for no other reason to know what you need to do should this ever happen to your Puggie. The good news is that Bronson is OK and as lively as ever!In this episode Joanna will share:04:30 - Bronson’s upcoming birthday05:17 - Teaching Bronson to jump for his treats06:25 - What inspired Jo to become a pug pawrent08:30 - How did Jo and Bronson found each other10:15 - How Bronson wakes Jo up12:43 - The interesting story behind Bronson’s name14:00 - Bronson’s paw-sonality17:09 - Bronson’s naughty traits20:22 - Bronson’s favourite activity21:10 - Bronson’s near-death experience25:06 - Bronson’s favourite outfitIf you'd like to watch the LIVE STREAM REPLAY of this episode, you can find it on our Blog https://pugparties.com/blogs/livin-the-pug-life-show/livin-the-pug-life-show-ep-32-with-bronsonIf you liked the episode, or if you think it'll be useful for someone else, please leave a review over at podcasher.comAnd if you've got any questions or want to tell us how much you loved the Episode then let me know over at our Facebook Group "Livin' the Pug Life" (https://www.facebook.com/groups/livinthepuglife/) where Crazy Pug Ladies meet to talk all things pug.NEXT WEEK'S EPISODE: In next weeks episode I am talking to you about introducing another Puggie to your fur-family after the loss of another Puggie; there are definitely some things to consider, including if you are ready or if your surviving Puggie is ready.

S1 Ep 11S1 EP11: Are we really eliminating Puggies from the Australian Family?

In this weeks episode I am talking about the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) calling for 'any dog with a muzzle length less than a third of its skull length (being) banned from being bred or shown because of the suffering caused on the animal.'I agree with the call to clean up the breeding community/industry by expanding/introducing legislation to enable the relevant authorities the ability to enforce safe breeding practices, and for the readjustment of breeding standards back to healthy levels so that our Pugs can live their best lives with us for as long as possible. What I don't agree with is the focus on a small portion of dogs that have been on the wrong end of the lax breeding laws in Australia due to their popularity?01:17 - My ‘RANT’ about the AVA’s ‘partial ban’ and their accompanying explanation03:33 - Does banning pugs resolve poor breeding practices in Australia?05:24 - Let’s talk about fixing the underlying issue07:36 - Our pugs as our life’s significant companionsCheck the websites I talked about in the Show here:- Oscar’s Law: https://www.oscarslaw.org/- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OscarsLawAUS- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/oscarslawinc/- Article: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10475455/Call-BAN-French-Bulldogs-Pugs-Australia.htmlIf you liked the episode, or if you think it'll be useful for someone else, please leave a review over at https://www.podchaser.com/ThePugLifeShowAnd if you've got any questions or want to tell us how much you loved the Episode then let me know over at our Facebook Group "Livin' the Pug Life" (https://www.facebook.com/groups/livinthepuglife/) where Crazy Pug Ladies meet to talk all things pug.NEXT WEEKS EPISODE: In next weeks episode we're talking to Candy about her Pug Penelope and her Etsy store Pugpalooza.Candy is one of those lucky Hooman's who got to grow up with Pugs, and now has her own to love. S1 Ep 7S1 EP07: Should I adopt or buy a Puggie?

In this weeks episode I am talking to you about buying from a breeder or adopting a rescue.I've always felt that the Universe gave me Louis just when I was ready to be a Pug-mom for the first time, but finding your pawfect Puggie isn't always that easy or simple. Not to mention having to decide if should you use a breeder or adopt a rescue. All options have pros and cons and we'll look at them all so you can decide if your pawfect Puggie is a rescue or a pup from a Breeder.01:13 - Options for first-time pug pawrents01:55 - Adopting through a rescue04:16 - Adopting my current puggie Charles & his brother Winston 05:17 - Adopting my first pug Louis06:41 - The pros and cons of adopting a rescue puggie09:24 - Extra things to know when it comes to adopting a pug11:21 - Finding a reputable ethical pug breeder13:56 - Backyard breeding and puppy farming16:58 - Purchasing a pug from a pet shopCheck out the organisations talked about in the Show here: - PugsSOS: https://www.pugs-sos.com/ - Pug Rescue & Adoption Victoria: http://www.pugrescue.org.au/ - Saffron on the Hill: http://www.thehill.org.au/ - Oscar's Law: http://www.oscarslaw.org/ - RSPCA: https://www.rspca.org.au/ - Dogzonline: https://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/breeders/pug.asp - Perfect Pets: https://perfectpets.com.au/ss/st/Breeder+-+Dogs/pt/Dogs/b/PugIf you liked the episode, or if you think it'll be useful for someone else, please leave a review over at https://www.podchaser.com/ThePugLifeShowAnd if you've got any questions or want to tell us how much you loved the Episode then let me know over at our Facebook Group "Livin' the Pug Life" (https://www.facebook.com/groups/livinthepuglife/) where Crazy Pug Ladies meet to talk all things pug.NEXT WEEKS EPISODE: I have always thought of Rescue Foster Carers as Super Hero's - they take in surrendered Puggies who may have had a rough start to life and give them a home, as well as the love and attention they never got, but deserved so that they can be ready for their fur-ever loving home when they're ready. In my mind, that would take a lot of guts, love and patience .. and then tissues, hugs and kisses when they happily head off with their fur-ever family leaving you behind to prepare yourself for the next beautiful soul that will need your love and attention. This episode isn't just about the beautiful Puggies who are in care, and can I just say you're going to love Pippy the rescue Puggie who was on the Show, it is also about the amazing work that Foster Carers do, and what it takes to be a Foster Carer to a rescue Puggie as told by Donna from PugsSOS (WA)
