Show Notes

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Puerto Rico Weather Podcast — it's Tuesday, February 24th. Step outside and you'll feel that sticky 70 degrees clinging to your skin. But here's the thing.. Where you're on this island today decides whether you're dodging thunderstorms or just a few showers. And if you're near the water? The drama's just getting started. Metro San Juan wakes up sunny, but by 9 A.M., scattered showers roll in. They'll hang around all day, peaking near midnight with a coin flip chance of rain. Winds shift east around 10 A.M., pulling in that moisture. You'll hit 81 degrees around noon before cooling to 74 by early Wednesday. Head south and the heat cranks up. Southern Puerto Rico hits 86 degrees by 1 P.M., with afternoon showers arriving earlier but tapering off by 5 P.M. Lows tonight drop to a balmy 72, with just a slight chance of sprinkles before 3 A.M. Now Western Puerto Rico? That's where the fireworks are. Thunderstorms explode between noon and 8 P.M., peaking at 70 percent around 3 P.M. Expect one to two inches of rain in spots — enough for ponding on roads and maybe minor flooding in low areas. Highs top out at 84, then drop to 69 by 4 A.M. The National Weather Service is watching this closely. If you're hitting the beach, hold off. That northwesterly swell arrives late tonight, bringing hazardous surf and life threatening rip currents Wednesday through Friday. Western drivers, watch for sudden downpours this afternoon. Turn your headlights on and never drive through flooded roads. The week ahead? Wednesday brings more scattered showers, especially in the west, with a drying trend by Thursday. Friday through Monday, we settle into that classic trade wind pattern — breezy easterlies, morning showers in the east, afternoon pop ups near El Yunque. Highs stay mid 80s, lows low 70s. Classic Puerto Rico — three different weather worlds in one island. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
