KEY TAKEAWAYS
- What is SSAS? According to Simon, “SSAS is a director’s pension; it is designed for company directors, which more and more investors are becoming. As a pension ‘wrapper’, if somebody had a pension from their corporate world, an existing pension from their previous employers, or a private pension, they can get control of that, which is a very important thing.”
- Simon helps his clients devise a scheme to make their pension grow. It becomes easier to buy commercial properties with their pension funds. For residential investors, you can loan from pension to your company as long as you follow HRMC rules.
- You have to make sure that you’re financially capable – at least £50,000 – to get into any deal, and Simon’s company can help you choose where to invest.
- You can start SSAS at any age; you don’t have to be 55 years old to begin converting your pension funds into a SSAS pension scheme.
- What’s the difference between SIPP and SSAS? SIPP is a bit more restrictive on where you can invest. SSAS is more flexible with loans and investments, so it’s easier for you to choose what you want.
- If you’re in a limbo between SSAS and SIPP, Simon advises to just trust your guts and instincts. You have to try because it becomes more regretful in the end if you didn’t do it.
BEST MOMENTS
- “It’s what people are used to. They’re offered nothing really apart from a piece of paper and a promise with the traditional pension schemes.”
- “It’s really important that you set up due diligence. I would recommend that anybody do their due diligence with our company on any type of investments you deal with. It should always be done.”
- “It’s the cost of not doing it that has more impact.”
- “It’s not about what you know, it’s about who you know.”

ABOUT THE GUEST
If you have a pension, like most of us that do, you’re probably fed up with seeing a sum of, potentially substantial, money managed on your behalf in the stock market. There is a huge myth that you cannot touch your pension until you’re over the age of 55. In this presentation we will be dispelling this and several other myths that stop people from taking an interest in their pension today and investing it into property!
The Landlord’s Pension likes to think of a pension as an investment bank account that benefits from tax free growth. The fact that you may not be able to access these funds for personal use until you are 55 does not mean that they cannot be used for investment in property!
Investing your pension in property is not a new concept, it’s just that you’ve never been told about it before. If you’ve ever paid into a pension or know someone that has, this seminar is not to be missed!
The Landlord’s Pension has helped over 1,000 people invest in property since 2004. It specialises in structuring property investments within a pension. They are self-invested and self-administered pension experts and are regulated by HMRC to administer UK pensions.
Simon King has been involved in the financial services industry for over 20 years. He’s an investment and Pension Consultant in both National and International arenas. He has extensive experience in Property Bonds, and he’s also a national speaker on using pensions to invest in property.
