The refrain “stick to sports!” is often heard from those who take issue with a socially conscious stand an athlete (or any other famous person for that matter) makes against injustice be it racial or otherwise. These kinds of refrains from some are indicative or narrow-minded, short-sighted and ahistorical perspectives that ignore the history of activism in sports.
