Social Security turns 85 today. On August 14, 1935 FDR signed the Social Security Act into law, and Social Security—despite attacks over the decades from Republican presidents—remains today despite some changes. Now Donald Trump wants to take an axe to Social Security and Medicare and eliminate them both. Trump's budget for fiscal year 2021 calls for a $45 billion cut to Social Security Disability and Supplemental Income. Millions of children with disabilities and seniors will be affected — and Trump won’t stop there if he is voted in via the electoral college and chicanery again this November 3.
