Pirates baseball is back tomorrow. Opening Day takes place against the Mets, starting at 1:15 – a game that can be heard on The Fan. Are the Pirates going to make the playoffs? We are risking our bodies again for this – Poni and Donny said they would get a Pirates tattoo no matter what happens this season. Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike said he’s been checked out on the Pirates since the NLCS loss in 1992. He added that 1979 was easily the apex of being a Pirates’ fan. Mike went after Dan Orlovsky, jokingly, about the all-of-the-sudden love for Ty Simpson and the belief that Simpson is now the best QB in this year’s draft. If there is something to this, Mike said it’s genius work done by Orlovsky to help out Simpson, who conveniently share an agent. Mike believes Mike Tomlin will absolutely end up on TV and thinks he could be the next John Madden if he wants it. Mike confirmed that it pays a whole lot more to be a color analyst in the booth instead of working on the studio shows.
