Show Notes

Is it a failure of a season if the Penguins proceed to miss the playoffs after all of this? Another lopsided loss at home last night has them clinging to the final playoff spot in the Metro with the wild card race starting to look very messy. Missing the playoffs would be the fourth straight year of no postseason. There are individual success stories like Ben Kindel and the turnaround of Erik Karlsson, along with what we saw from Dan Muse in his first season on the bench. But finishing in the middle does nothing for this team and organization. Poni was surprised that Joe was outnumbered during the midday show thinking that this season would be a downer if they miss the playoffs. It doesn’t sound like Dan Muse is wavering on his confidence as the Penguins’ season enters the final stretch. On the midday show, Pomp gave the Penguins a 50/50 shot to make it. Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. Are we starting to near the end for Kris Letang? TK thinks Letang still has some left, but he has to adapt his game a little bit. Tyler credited Erik Karlsson for letting the game come to him. TK said Letang and Karlsson are competitive to a point that both of them want to be the top dog. Tyler said the season is a failure if the Penguins miss the playoffs, regardless of what the preseason expectations were. Even though he’s a hockey guy, TK predicted what the Pirates will do in 2026.
