Good morning. Pennsylvania. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Step outside and you'll wonder if someone flipped the calendar ahead two months. We're waking up to 45 degrees statewide. That's not a typo.
Sunshine owns the day. Southeast sees patchy fog between 8 and 9 A.M., then clears to brilliant blue. Philadelphia climbs to 70 degrees. Western Pennsylvania hits 69. Central areas reach 68. Southwest winds gust to 10 miles an hour, just enough to remind you they're there.
In Here's kicker, we're running 30 degrees to 25 degrees above normal for early March. This feels like mid-May crashed the party uninvited.
Tonight stays mild. Partly cloudy skies develop statewide. Patchy fog returns after 2 A.M., especially in the southeast. Lows drop to the mid-40s to low 50s. Light winds persist.
Tuesday cranks the heat even higher. Sunny skies push central Pennsylvania to 75 degrees. Southeast hits 74. Western areas reach 72. Some spots could challenge daily records. Light winds make it feel comfortable, not oppressive.
Then Wednesday flips the script. Morning starts warm — mid-70s again — but a powerful cold front barrels in by evening. Rain showers develop, with thunderstorms possible Wednesday night. South of I-80 and west of the Susquehanna River, some storms could turn severe. Damaging winds and hail are the primary threats.
Behind that front? A dramatic crash. Thursday morning lows plunge to the 30s. Rain changes to snow showers in the mountains. Northwest winds gust to 30 miles an hour. Highs struggle to reach the upper 40s.
Friday through the weekend brings typical March weather. Highs in the low 50s. A few rain or snow showers possible Friday and again Sunday. Nothing significant expected.
Enjoy this warm stretch. Spring equinox is just 11 days away. And we're getting a preview today.
See you this afternoon.
