Ep 107The One About A Common (Unknown) Household Danger with Child Safety Advocate Leslie Bangamba
Leslie Bangamba shares her story with us today about her experiences with a household danger that she was unaware of but would have her racing to save her daughter after she collapsed on the floor without a known cause. Child safety advocacy is now a priority for Leslie, and it’s no wonder why. Hearing her story, and recognizing the dangers that lurk within my own home that I hadn’t even considered, made me thankful for the opportunity to have this conversation. We chat about awareness over fear, how to support a NICU/Sick Kids Parent, battery safety and checking your home. Follow along with Leslie and her family at @LeslieBangamba on IG. Ep 99The One About Spaghetti vs Macaroni With Shane Landry
After mentioning to my IG stories that Shane was coming back on the pod and he wanted to do an episode on Spaghetti vs Macaroni, I shot it down and asked my audience to ask him some questions. It was an overwhelming ask for this to be the episode. SO, here we are. Spaghetti vs Macaroni. But, that’s not all.We also discuss his time as a new dad to a baby, postpartum sex, and watching your partner’s body change throughout the years and what his perspective (honestly) is about it all. This conversation is both refreshing, hilarious and hopefully a bit healing too. It certainly was for me. Shane isn’t really on social media so don’t bother following him, he has like 9 posts and they’re all a joke. Today we welcome one of my best friends onto the podcast, Ariana! For Ariana, this was her first birth, and a birth of twins, who came premature when she went into labour on her birthday. The rollercoaster of emotions, and the reality that was a twin birth, a month in NICU and so much more was something I wanted to sit down and talk with her about, unpack, and share in the moments of it all. Ep 92The One Where We Learn About Diet & Food Myths With Dr. Joshua Wolrich
Dr. Joshua Wolrich (or as I call him, Dr. Josh) made a name for himself on social media as a doctor willing to speak out on subjects like diet myths (aka “nutribollocks” as he calls them) as well as weight stigma and food insecurities and so much more. After he himself went through a weight loss journey to discover a lot of the deceptions within diet culture, Dr. Josh then took those experiences to lead him into learning more and breaking down a lot of diet myths, like “good” or “bad” foods, since food holds no morality. This conversation is meant to make us think, learn, or unlearn while we also share the commonalities within our own experiences with weight loss and diet culture. With his new book Food Isn’t Medicine, Dr. Josh is here to push back against the mass amounts of bad health advice, with just a bit of humour of course, too. About the book: “Food Isn't Medicine wades through nutritional science (both good and bad) to demystify the common diet myths that many of us believe without questioning. If you have ever wondered whether you should stop eating sugar, try fasting, juicing or 'alkaline water', or struggled through diet after diet (none of which seem to work), this book will be a powerful wake-up call. Drawing on the latest research and delivered with a dose of humour, it not only liberates us from the destructive belief that weight defines health but also explains how to spot the misinformation we are bombarded with every day.” You can follow Dr. Joshua Wolrich on Instagram @DrJoshuaWolrich and find his book on preorder now, coming out on April 15, 2021. Head over to goodnightsleepsite.com to book your complimentary 15-minute discovery call with a Good Night Sleep Site consultant and start your journey towards sleep success.
